Previa and doppler question

Hi mamas,

I was listening to the baby last night. When I went all the way down to the pelvis (where you'd check for a HB around 8-9w), it was really loud and windy sounding and covers a large area. It is not anterior, as it's only VERY low down and I hear nothing on the front of my abdomen. I didn't find a similar noise throughout the womb. From all I've read, it appears that this is the placenta. So, does that mean I could have a previa? I had a partial with my ds that resolved.

I have my first u/s on monday at 20w. I know I should just suck it up and be patient, but I'm planning a VBA2C, so this really concerns me. For those that have had a previa, did you find the windy noise to be really low?

I was asking my MW about detecting placental location with doppler. She said she really doesn't think it's a good way to do it or very likely to be accurate. I wouldn't worry too much at this point! There are all sorts of things down there that you can pick up, ya know?

I had a low-lying placenta (not quite previa but close) and could hear the placenta very low and to the left with my fetoscope. I wouldn't trust it to rule out previa though since placentas don't have a definite size or shape and all you need in the way is the very edge.

PS: It was low-lying at 18 weeks but moved up a LOT by 28. Even if you have a partial previa it doesn't mean it will stay there.

you cant diagnose previa with doppler because low-lying does not mean previa and you cant exactly put the doppler up inside of you to check if its over the cervix (and even then likely to be inaccurate anyway.

plus, we have a few large arteries down there on the lower area of our abdomens and they can sound wooshy too (especially off to either side)
