How long does it take you to see reactions?

Especially if you/your dc have/has intolerances rather than allergies.
I've been under the impression that ds reacts within a day to stuff, but I'm now questioning that. I just want to know the norms, and how far back I should be looking to find potential culprits.

I know he *does* react within a day to sweet potato, so I think that's why I assumed everything would be a day. But I'm sure that's not necessarily true, right?

btw, if it matters my ds's reactions tend to most often be frequent night waking, undigested food and soft, unformed poo (he HAS had periods where his poops are solid and look like I'd think normal toddler poop would look). Sometimes it's frequent urination and gumpiness/fussiness.

hmm, I'm curious too because DD has weird, soft poo all the time and wakes constantly at night. She is 2 1/2.

DS reacts in a couple of hours to apple, over a week for gluten (behavioral reaction). Sorry, I don't think that's what you wanted to hear .

For dairy and gluten, it is about 24-36 hours later, but trace soy and eggs are build-up reaction over 3-4+ days before there are any symptoms.

my dd1 & 2 react to gluten about 24-48 hours later... it has showed up as far out as a week..

For soy, my DS reacts within 30 minutes. For dairy it used to be 24 hours, but last time it was about 10 minutes. He threw up within half an hour of eating egg. But with a lot of stuff, my DD2 and DS react a day or two later. That's why you want to look for trends, not specific times, when you're doing a food journal.

DD only has intolerances...

Corn = within an hour
Watermelon = instantly
Cantaloupe = within 2 hours
Dairy = within 30 minutes

Not really, but I need to somehow get out of this rut of suspecting foods from the previous day.

So basically we're talking anywhere from immediately to a week later. That should narrow it down

I'm not doing a food journal atm. I think it just made it harder for me to listen to my instincts, and I was always overanalyzing it, and getting frustrated when I couldn't find a pattern. But for sure, if it's something that's a week back, I don't think I can do it without a journal. I was thinking that I'd get a feel for what I thought might be problem foods, then keep an eye on those, and eliminate specific foods and see what happens.

we are just coming off an accident exposure- they reacted about 36 hours after and now 5(FIVE) days after the exposure they are starting to act like themselves...
