Told to stop nursing asap!!! - Page 2

When you go for your follow-up, I'd just ask very specifically why she reccomends weaning. If her answer is "x hormone level is off and weaning may help" or has some other specific rationale for weaning, I'd consider it. If her answer is more like "you're tired and nursing is stressing your system" I'd push her for more specifics (is there any evidence that weaning helps in your situation? are there studies showing that mothers who wean are less tired?) or maybe just ignore her.

good luck!

I was going through this exact same thing and was first told it was "all in my head". An endocrinologist told me to stop nursing, and when I asked for an exact reason and medical explanation why HE said that it would stop my ds from developing a sense of independence and ruin him socially. He was an @$$ to say the least. After lots of my own research and working with my chiropractor and switching to a new PCP I have found a plan that is helping me to feel better. I highly recommend the book The Schwartzbein Principle for an eating guide to help get hormones under control. I also highly recommend finding a chiropractor or other type of medical practitioner who can get you on whole food supplements to get your body back in balance.
If you want to talk more about this with me (my background story is lengthy as well), please message me, I would love to help. Good Luck!

If you have a basal thermometer, you can easily test for thyroid issues and adrenal issues. At least while you're waiting to get more comprehensive testing from a doctor.

Did you have your thyroid tested?

Have you seen a nutritionist and filled out a diet diary for them to look at?

What are your exercise habits like?

What does your sleep schedule look like?

I can't see the article on this page? I'd like to read about this too.

Bless your heart.

I know what it is to feel exhausted and not get answers. I hope that you get closure soon on this!

Many times I have been told that I have "done enough" with BFing X amount of time and given LO a "good start". I am BFing DS now who is 21mos and still get crazy comments and even "advice" from HPs who seem very qualified, etc. in their field except in the area of BF and its benefits.

All that to say, when DD was 6mos I had a similar experience and I finally found a good balance between thyroid supplementation and treating adrenal fatigue. It really, really got alot better and I continued to nurse her (against some "sage advice") until she was 3.5yrs old and 30 weeks pregnant.

Hope that something in the above is helpful and encouraging to you.

Thank you all for your answers and support. I told the dr that I didnt want to wean and she was fine with that. Sh didnt think my low levels of estrogen and progesterone where solely caused by bf.
She put me on bio-identical estrogen and Progesterone, adrenal support, super doses of fish oil, 4000iu vit d, red yeast compound, plus my multi vit.
I am not feeling any better although it has only been three weeks. I am going to continue with everything she gave me and re-take all the bloodwork and saliva test in Dec. Depending on how I feel by then and what the blood work looks like I will go from there.
My ds has basically weaned himself he only nurses now about once in 24 hours.
I am not to keen to be on the hormones but like I said I am just going to wait and see for now.

I hope you feel much, much better soon.

This thread has been very eye-opening for me and has helped give me some insight into my own fatigue and depression... thank you.
