Emergen-C? and other ways to boost her immune system

I am sick with a really bad cold. My daughters birthday party is in 3 days and it would be terrible if she sick for it. I gave her her daily vitamin already this morning. Would it be safe to give her Emergen-c on top of that or is emergen-c more of a daily vitamin in itself? What else can I do for her immune system, on top of healthy eating and avoiding sugar?

i am a big fan of emergen-c. for adults. however, i would really caution you to not give the adult supplement to your babe; just look at the rda allowances- some of them are really really high. I think there is a children's version, which is probably fine if the pack says so..

natural things - i'd do echinacea or elderberry, the child friendly tinctures, maybe in a smoothie. You can also increase c intake with just eating oranges, etc. and handwashing, of course

I actually do use Emergen-C on my boys, but not in the adult dosage. I take a packet, and mix it with a scoop and a half of 4C wild berry pomagranite mix and 2 quarts of water. I also give them 2 gummies each a day of 240 mg of vit c. They also have a yogurt each every morning with breakfast. I tried the Animals immune booter vitamins, but the funny aftertaste would just make the boys spit them out.

So far, so good. My 3 year old had a very mild (never over 100.9) all last weekend, and fought it off all by himself. The little guy has a wet cough, but its inconsistant. This all after my husband was on a plane two weeks ago and brought home a DOOZY of a cold. AND they wouldnt stay out of his face the night he was at his absolute WORST. Now if you knew what we went through the past 2 years with both my boys in daycare, you would know this is nothing short of a miracle.

Might I also suggest for you, Emergen-c makes an immune defense honey and tangerine I think. It tastes AWFUL, but i slam one down every night before bed. I have also been taking on packet of the raspeberry emergen-c and also drinking one tea bag of the Yogi Immune support tea. I have yet to catch what EVERYONE around me has had lately. So lets hope.....

Also second the elderberry extract (Sambucol has a kid's version), as well as probiotics and Vitamin C. Maxi Baby makes a vitamin C liquid that DS likes, and Hylands has vitamin C dissolvable tablets, but the dose isn't super high.

We do half a packet emergen C or ascorbic acid powder in OJ and also give Herbs for kids echinacea/goldenroot liquid. Something probiotic like kefir too.
