Hi! I'm usually a lurker on MDC but I wanted to pop in and ask this question for the work at home moms. I'm a part-time working mom of a 3 year old girl. I have one part-time employed job, and I also own my own very small business. While both actual "jobs" are done outside of the home, I still need to do a lot of prep work and planning, and I'm really struggling with finding time and energy to get it all done.
For those that work at home, how do you ever get anything accomplished? I'd love to afford a babysitter or preschool, but we can't right now and while I could if my business got busier, I'm struggling to find the time/focus to work on marketing. My daughter no longer naps and doesn't sleep very long at night, so most days I'm tired and I get no break during the day. If I start a day with good intentions I usually end up frustrated and doing housework or puttering around on the internet because that's something that requires very few brain cells and if I'm interrupted every 5 minutes it's not a big deal.
For now, my mom watches her during the days for free if I have to go out, but it's more difficult to get time for prep and planning. I think she doesn't realize how much I need to do and how difficult it is to get it done with dd around, and I feel guilty for having her watch her for free that I hesitate to ask. In the evenings I'm usually so wiped out I'm useless, plus dh and I need the time together for our mental sanity and marriage preservation.
I know my post is all over the place. I tried to get some things done today, but it's almost 3 and I feel like I've just gone in circles all day and can't focus anymore. I'd just like to hear how others get things accomplished or see if anyone has any tips or sees something that I don't. Thanks..
