best price for circular knitting needles?

I am going to take the plunge and get some circular needles. I think it would be cheaper in the long run to get the whole set as many patterns I see seem to call for more than one size needle or to get the right gauge what have you.

So where do I find the cheapest set of circ. needles. A common price I see is around $60 is this about as low as they go? I really don't want the bamboo/wood ones unless they are for some strange reason much cheaper.

Thanks for any help!

The sets start at 24 inch cords. Hats use a 16 inch cord. So even if you got a set, you would still need to buy 16 inch needles for smaller projects.

I got my sister the boye set at hobby lobby last year for Christmas. They regularly have a 40 % off coupon, which made it $35-40. She likes them. I have the knitpick harmony set. It is $70ish. I looooove my set. However, some people have issues with the cord coming loose from the needle. Also, the needles break if you sit on them. (ask me how I know this) I think kp has a sale on their sets every now and then.

A friend of mine gets all her yarn and bought her addi set on ebay. She's frugal, so it must have been a good deal.

i bought my set of addi on ebay. they are the best. I bought the longest length since I use the magic loop technique and can skip all those shorter circs

I have the Knit Picks Options, the nickel ones, and I love them! I've had 3 cables break in about 3 years. When they do, I email KP and they immediately send out a new set, which is 2 new cables. I don't have 16 in. circulars, so I just use magic loop for any project that requires a 16" needle, and also instead of double-pointed needles.

I have had mine for about a year and use them A TON (like several times per week-screwing/unscrewing, switching cords, etc, etc). I have the Boye brand ones that you can get at JoAnn's. I think they're awesome and they've been perfect. If you can get them NOT on sale you can use a 40 or 50% off coupon making them VERY affordable.

I went ahead and got the Knit picks and am loving them! They are so smooth to knit with I am just in heaven. I am knitting a hat and am using the 2 circular method. It is super simple. Thanks for the advice!

Another Knitpicks Options lover here! I purchased some of their fixed circs in sizes 0,1, and 2 for socks. Love them!
