Anyone not have much fetal movement and baby was ok?

This pregnancy has been a little different from my others. My two boys moved around like crazy from day one- even at their 12-week u/s's they were kicking their tiny legs and arms! lol

This little one doesn't move too much (although very recently it HAS increased- I am 22 weeks). At my NT scan at 12 weeks this baby was extremely still. All of my prenatal tests so far have been great. At my 20-week u/s baby was moving a little but still seemed much more calm than my first two.

When I Google decreased fetal movement, a bunch of scary stuff comes up! It really isn't "decreasing" but rather "increasing", I have felt more and more kicks, but baby is still more chill than his/her brothers.

Anyone have a VERY "calm" baby in utero and all was a-okay???

Maybe he likes to kick when you're sleeping or into his placenta and you can't feel it?

due to having an anterior placenta i thought this little one didnt kick much. oh she kicks. lots. i just couldnt feel it that early.

Of six pregnancies (including this one), I have had at least three where the baby seemed more mellow than the others. One of them was born prematurely but I really think that was a coincidence. At 18mo old (and in excellent health, BTW), she is still very mellow and will sit in the same place for twenty minutes just looking at a book or gently playing with a toy. One of the ones who was really mellow in the womb was a mellow baby but turned into a human hummingbird at some point; she is in perpetual motion. Also excellent health. I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you are feeling movement, maybe do a kick count once a week (but don't drive yourself crazy doing it twelve times a day) and step awayyyy from Google.

At 22 weeks I didn't feel a whole lot of movement, either. I would bet that in the next three or four weeks you will start to get pummeled.

Thanks guys! It's hard not to compare your pregnancies, you know? And Google is my enemy for sure.

I think my u/s tech told me at 12 weeks that my placenta was posterior so I don't think my placenta is the issue?

This is my third pregnancy but first girl, i'm almost 25 weeks, its been a completely different pregnancy in every way.
I felt my little men move well before the 20 week mark, 14 weeks with ds #2. At my 20 week ultrasound it was confirmed that my placenta is anterior, which I had suspected!
In the last two weeks I have felt heaps more movement and in the last week i can feel the outline of her little foot when she kicks! I can now recognize her sleep/play patterns!

With my first, we called him our little pot-head baby. He was just so mellow and unmoving.
Turns out he is the opposite.

With my last baby, I felt her move 3 three times throughout pregnancy and two of those were kicks straight down. The only problem we can see is that she's very short but that's not really a problem

DS was really quiet in utero... I had to do kick counts all the time because i could go for days without feeling him if i wasnt REALLY paying attention. I had an anterior placenta, but he also turned out to be a really mellow baby. That's just his personality. He's still that way at 14 months...
Im more "worried" with this pregnancy because this bean has been super active! Even with an anterior placenta again, I can tell she's going to be VERY different from her brother!
(and at my 20 week ultrasound, the tech wrote on the report that the placenta was posterior... even though all the other ultrasounds that I had because of complications showed an anterior placenta. When I asked, she said it was the default setting and she had forgotten to change it to anterior... Not sure if that could be the case for you)

My 19 month old was a mellow baby in utero. Still has a mellow personality as a toddler - which is not a bad thing at all! I got nervous for him too, and did kick counts every day, but there was never anything wrong.

I wonder what I'm in for with this one - he/she kicks all the time!

My first baby was quiet. Anterior placenta. I rarely felt those kicks to the bladder or ribcage that everyone had told me would be coming. She was perfectly healthy, however, the umbilical cord was unusually short. She was able to come all the way out of me, but no further.

Do your kick counts and try not to worry.

I've never had an anterior placenta, so that hasn't been a factor.

My first pregnancy, she moved quite a bit. Then when I was pregnant with my DS, he moved so little that my midwife wound up ordering another u/s for me when I was about 33 weeks!

He was fine, just mellow! I'm 21 weeks with my 3rd pregnancy, and so far this baby is mellow like my DS.

My first hardly moved at all, and my placenta was at the back so that wasn't it. I didn't really worry because I had nothing to compare it to and I thought that feeling just one or two slight movements here and there was normal (thankfully I'm with midwives who don't put any stock in kick counts or I really would have panicked), though I certainly wished that I could feel him more. I remember drinking cold juice and poking my belly to get him going on several occasions but it never did anything.

Now I realize just how quiet he was - DS2 who is in my belly now is crazy active to the point where it makes me uncomfortable and keeps me up at night. DS1 is still a very mellow guy so I'm a bit worried about what a crazy banshee this one might be.

I was 21 weeks yesterday, this is my first and I only feel sporadic goldfish-in-a-bag movements, and they are not consistent. Midwives said to start kick-counting at 28 weeks IIRC so I'm not worried at all. I dunno where my placenta is, all I know is it's nowhere near my cervix and that's all that I care about at this juncture.

yeah, I am almost 22 weeks and hardly feel anything. Just a random flutter. One time I got a heavy kick, just once.

At my 20 week US she was moving all over, I felt NOTHING! So i guess I just don't feel it easily.

I think its more of a concern if you've been feeling movement and it slows down than if you aren't feeling very much in the first place.

I felt baby move at 14 weeks for about 4 days in a row, then nothing for over a week. I knew it was early but asked my midwife yesterday when I should be able to feel the baby daily. She basically said by 24 weeks or so is when I need to start thinking about that. So at 22 weeks I wouldn't worry, like everyone said it just sounds like you have a mellow baby!

At my 20wk this baby was sleeping, all s/he wanted to do was put her/his little hands on its little face and roll away. I have periods of movement, but for the most part this baby is pretty chill. My first baby was quiet too, I was constantly at the hospital for NSTs because he was failing kick counts. He was a very active little boy, but a very mellow baby.

Thanks guys... I am still feeling worried though.
On another preg board I post on a mom just had her baby and found out at birth it has a rare chromosomal disorder (they didn't find it on u/s during the pregnancy). I looked up possible findings on u/s that could indicate this disorder and one of them was "decreased fetal movement". Again, I keep thinking about my 12 week and 20 week u/s when baby was barely moving at all. I do feel baby quite often now, prob started this last week- no really strong movements but definitely movements! But I still worry... my 2 boys were SO active from very early on in the 1st trimester (I had many u/s's due to history of multiple miscarriages)- I remember both of them waving their arms and legs around, etc. This one just sits there and poses during the u/s's.
Sorry... just having a freak-out moment! Can someone give me more reassurance? Thanks!

Not preggy - just lurkin'!

But I had to respond to this one. I was always freaking out about movement/kick counts. I had a pretty quiet babe in utero, and I would often go looong periods of time without any noticeable movement - especially at 22 weeks.

But baby turned out happy and healthy. My midwife suggested doing kick counts immediately after a meal, which helped.

Good luck mama!
