What is going on?

I have been nursing my son for 21 months now, and he still nurses pretty frequently. A few days ago, I got what I assumed to be my first post-partum period – a bit of light spotting and abdominal cramping. It didn't last very long, and totally went away less than a day after starting.

Since then, my son wants to nurse all the time, but makes weird comments when he does. It has ranged from "Eeew, not nice!" (really ), to "No milk!", to "Can I have some juice now?". I have also developed a sudden aversion to nursing him.

What do you think is going on? Supply issues? Change in taste? Any ideas? Has this happened to anyone else?

DS always complained BITTERLY about his milk, during my periods. I got them back at about a year, and after that, every single time my period was coming, he would start fussing at the breast, slapping at it while he was nursing, pulling off and complaining, and nursing for HOURS and HOURS as if he was totally unsatisfied with what he was getting. He would even start reverting to this awful painful clamping down, as if maybe biting would help fix the problem. Then about two days into the period, the problem would just suddenly fix itself, and he'd be happy again.

DD2 never seemed bothered (they're twins) but she's just generally less sensitive to everything. And she also ate a lot more solids at that age, and so was less dependent on the milk.

Anyway, I have no scientific evidence or anything, to say that the milk is less or different during AF, but I have DS's opinion.

I would give it a few days, and let him nurse more frequently if he wants to, and chances are it'll resolve all by itself.
