questions for paretns with crawlers

I'm not sure if anyone will remember this but roughly how long after your baby learned to pull themselves up on their hands and knees was it before they started crawling? I'm sure every baby is different but I'd love to hear what others experienced? DD is SOOOO fussy and i have a feeling it is because she wants badly to crawl. She has been on hands and knees for about 3 weeks now and seems to wiggle worm her way backwards but not forwards. She can spin in a full circle to get to things behind her but can't figure out how to move forward. She just turned 7 months.

DS will be 7 months in little over a week and he's been on hands and knees, sort of rocking back and forth and can slightly scoot since he turned 6 months old! I was wondering the same thing. I mean, he's not fussy, really... only when he plops down on to his tummy after being on his hands and knees - maybe it's frustration?

I can't remember when DS1 started crawling...maybe around 7 months? He just sort of did it, though... no prepping like DS2 is doing.

My DS started the "army crawl" around 6 months and every once in a while could get up onto his hands and knees. He didn't really get the hang of hands and knees crawling until about 7.5 months.

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. My son just army crawled around 7.5 months and then one day started crawling- more like 9 months. DD is 6 months and has been really rocking around. She was only scotting backwards, but in the last few days she gets around side to side better and started rolling in different directions. My unprofession opinion is that she will be crawling for sure by 8 months, but I'm guessing in the next couple weeks. So a total of 6 weeks between getting up on hands and knees and rocking to crawling. We shall see.

Lyra was up on hands and knees, rocking back and forth for a few weeks before she actually took off. She stated crawling at 8.5 months

Uh, seconds. He had been "army crawling" for awhile, got up on hands and knees and then started crawling right away. He's been up on knees since 6 months, army crawling from 5 months.

DS hated "tummy time". He never really got to hands and knees. Started crawling from the sitting position. DD2 was on hands and knees around 8 months. BOth started to crawl within days of each other at 9 months.

DD1 was no hands and knees around 6 months, rocking and "crawling" backwards. She started real crawling at 7 months.

My DS was rocking on his hands and knees about a month before he started crawling.

I think more than a month for my DD - 1.5 months?

DS never really rocked on hands and knees, he also started crawling from a sitting position, and that was around 8 months I think? and he doesn't really cross crawl, he crawls like some others here have mentioned, with one knee on the ground and one foot. (He can cross crawl, I have seen him do it, but he chooses not to most of the time)

DS was army crawling at about 7.5 months and at 9 months got up on hands and knees. He would crawl a couple of "steps" before going back to army crawl and after a few day that was it.....he was off an crawling.

dd2 could barely sit at 6m, to a decent roller at 7m to great crawler at 7.5m and now great puller-upper at 8m. her big sis walked at 9m so i'm getting ready for anything.

Rowan could sit up unassisted and was rocking on his hands and knees for about a month before he started crawling in earnest. He's now 8 months old and crawls up a storm.

It took 6 or 7 weeks for DS2 to make the transition from up on his knees to crawling. I don't remember how long it took DS1.

a few days

My boy took a long time to go from rocking to crawling but he starting getting up on hands and knees and rocking around and scooting backwards pretty early, like 4-5 months, and he started crawling really well at about 6 1/2 months. I think babies that start earlier take longer and vice versa. On the other hand, he still isn't a very good sitter. He can pull himself up to standing but he has no interest in sitting at all. I foresee a couple of years of chasing this one around, yikes!

Our babe just started crawling a couple weeks ago. He was on hands and knees at least a month before he figured out how to crawl.
