Milk sensitivity?

I have a 11mth old boy. I breastfeed him. I have always eaten cheese, he's never had a problem with it.

That said, I gave him some homo milk a few times starting about 2 weeks ago. He has had a face rash for over a week, red circles under the eyes, and what looks like baby acne. I am pretty sure it's a milk sensitivity.

Is it possible for him to have a reaction to the milk, but not to cheese? Do I stop feeding him and myself cheese, or can I just eliminate milk? I never drink it, so it's not a problem for me. But giving up my cheese is gonna be hard! lol And how long would I have to do that, if I did?

His poor face looks awful. I feel so bad for him. He doesn't SEEM to have any gastro issues, just the rash.

Sounds like my kid... we just had allergy testing done and yup... dairy allergy. It never seemed to affect him thru my BM though, so I really have no idea. If it wasn't bothering him before I would think you could probably still eat it, just not give it to him yet? I am new to this whole allergy thing tho...

Absolutely, his just might not be so severe that he can't handle it through BM. It's like people who are lactose intolerant but can eat cheese. Incidentally, he might be ok with yogurt because of the cultures.

My little cousin was the same way, she broke out in hives when she had her first taste of cow's milk, but she can eat cheese and I think she's ok with yogurt.
I am lactose intolerant, but only to milk, ricotta cheese, and ice cream. Anything else I can eat without a problem. So yeah, different dairy foods can cause different reactions.

totally possibly. my first two kids are sensitive to dairy. first child was fine nursing and fine with cheese, yogurt, etc. homo milk did him in. second child was gassy nursing and cheese was out, yogurt is fine.

have yet to see if baby #3 has any problems ... so far so good!
