Hi Folks!
Long time lurker, but I just signed up...
I'm a new mom from Ottawa; my daughter Ophelia is currently around 4 months old and I'm off on my maternity leave for the time being. After a loooong pregnancy (41 weeks + 4 days) and a loooong labour (46 hours), we brought Ophelia home to some difficulties with breastfeeding. I'm proud to say that we've been exclusively breastfeeding since 6 weeks, when I was able to determine that she has silent GERD/reflux.
I don't know many other parents in town like my husband and me; we are gentle, sensitive parents who think it is very natural to be as attached as possible to one's child. We're also the only parents we know who cloth diaper, delayed vaccinations and have a family bed.
Right now we live in the city, but I have a dream to return to the country to live as far off the grid as possible. Having grown up in the country, I didn't appreciate it at the time, but I yearn for the solitude and a more "natural" way of living. Right now, we're one of the few households I know who don't regularly use cell phones or have cable/satellite TV...my husband and I are quiet, reserved people socially; we like smaller groups of friends, good food (he cooks by trade) and entertainment. Our style tends to run a little bit vintage...if you'd call it style, at all.
I just wanted to pop in and say "HI" before I start to speak up in the forums.
I hope to make some great internet friends on here with similar interests in life and parenting!
