is pertussis dangerous for 8-month-old?

HOw dangerous is pertussis for an 8-month-old? Any websites that describe danger (morbidity and mortality) of pertussis by age of child? (My youngest child, an infant, is unvaxed)
We don't have pertussis but it is around right now.
