When should I worry about weight gain?

So, dd2 is 4 weeks old. She was 7 lbs 2 oz at birth. She went down to 6 lbs 10 oz in the hospital. She was 6 lbs 12 oz at 5 days old...so gaining. She was 7 lbs 11 oz at 2 weeks 6 days. They wanted her back up to her birthweight by 2 weeks and she was plus that so they were happy.

Today, at 3 weeks 6 days- 1 week later, she is just 8 lbs 1 oz. She gained 6 ounces in 7 days. I asked the Ped. and she said that it IS under what they would like to see a baby gain, but it isn't enough under to worry her. I *think* she's getting enough, but what do I know? I've never had to worry about this before and I'm starting to doubt myself. ugh.

When should I worry? I nurse her on demand so I don't know how I could nurse her more. Should I try and get her to take both breasts after she passes out after nursing on one side? She's eating approx. every 3 hours at night too, but I'm not sure how long. We cosleep and I fall asleep after latching her on and she doesn't cry so I imagine she's nursing till she falls asleep?

I'm just so new to this....my ds was 10 lbs at birth and dd was 9 lbs 4 oz. Needless to say, they were big babies and I was never concerned about weight gain. I wouldn't say they even gained a ton either. Ds was 16 pounds at 6 months, which is 1 pound a month, but because he was in the 100th percentile, nobody said anything. kwim?

This is all so new to me. DD2 is not small by normal standards..just an average baby. But for me, she is just so tiny!
