Tinkle Traps input and prepping question

I just got my fluffy mail with tinkle traps (infant size) - they look like they will work great I just wonder if they will really fit that long (5-15 lbs). What has been others experience with them as far as fit and time frame for use? Trying to decide whether to return another fitted that does not look like it will work quite as well (gigglebritches fitted) and replace with more TT.

Also I have TT and some other fitteds that are flannel (unbleached as well osocozy and snugglebottoms) plus new wipes (flannel/sherpa). Do they all need to be washed separately to start with so the oils don't get onto the flannel?

Newborn Size

I am not expressly familiar with tinkle traps or gigglebritches. However, I have never had a problem with any 5-15lbs fitted diaper not working for that range. It isn't extraordinary for a diaper to fit from 5-15lbs (give or take a pound). My experience is that the shape of the baby matters more as you move into progressively larger sizes.

The big question is usually how fast will your baby get to 15lbs. You could have an 11lb baby who grows like a weed and hits 15lbs in two weeks. You could have a 6lb pound who wears newborn size for ages. Our kids all fit 5-15lbs diapers until they were between 5 and 8 months old, but I've loaned my newborns diapers out to people who could only use them for a couple of weeks. Every newborn fitted a tried though did fit from newborn to roughly 15lbs (we didn't have any 5lbs babies, but all of the diapers I used would have fit babies much smaller than ours).

I can't answer about the oils. I opted to boil mine diapers rather than wash them.

Thanks for the input Julie - maybe they look so small because I have had big kiddos 8lbs 7 oz DD and 9 lbs 12 oz DS. I'll keep mulling my options. I'm hoping someone can answer the prepping question.

I think that newborn diapers just look small when you don't have a newborn to put them on. I look at ours now and can't believe that our kids used to wear them, and we have four kids.

Hopefully, somebody knows about the oils.

I don't know those specific brands but I have cd'ed two 9lb+ newborns in smalls and they are too big. They do work okay, but if you already have newborn size I would absolutely keep them. I am planning to build a stash of NB's if we have another one to minimize the frustrations of all the bulk.

I'm not sure what oils you are speaking of. I have only heard of them on hemp fabric and it seemed to me that there wasn't even consensus on them. It wouldn't, of course, hurt to wash them separately one time through it you want to.

Thanks for all the input mama's I guess trying the dipes on my DD big baby may not be quite the same effect as trying on a newborn! It's been 5 years since by DS was born, washing the clothes I keep thinking the same thing as you Julie - can't believe they wore some of them but I have pictures proving they did! I just want to have enough to hang with it from day 1 and keep going. Thanks again!

anything hemp you should probably prep those seperately cuz they have a natural oil that could get on your other materials. other than than i usually prep other fibers together in one wash.
