Worms in walnuts

We have a huge walnut tree in our yard. Dh had the idea to let the kids harvest the nuts to make a little bit of cash. Well, they were out there collecting them and I broke some open and there are worms in the casing that surrounds the actual walnut. Are these walnuts still edible or do we have to just throw them all away?

I'd throw them away and treat your tree. That's not normal

Husk fly larvae is pretty normal in black walnuts. There are sprays you can use to control them, but you have to spray while the tree is in flower. As long as the nut meal looks normal and isn't soft/mushy, it's fine.
