Fermented Salsa Question

I have a newbie question for all of you.

I finally bought Nourishing Traditions and made the salsa. It was delicious. However after about 2 weeks there was some mold around the rim.
In NT it says if it smells bad don't eat it. This did not smell bad. I just wiped off the meld from the rim and scooped out the salsa without touching the rim.
It was still very tasty.
But now I have second thoughts..
Did I do the wrong thing?
Should I have not eaten the salsa once mold developed on the Rim????
Thanks for your help!

Nope, that's what I would have done, as well. I do that with cheese that gets moldy, too, get rid of the moldy part and eat what has not been affected by the mold. Same thing, sorta?
