Please help, I don't want to wean

My 21 month old daughter and I have enjoyed a beautiful and relatively easy nursing relationship with the exception of a thrush battle (just me, not her) on and off from about 9-15 months. The problem is that because nursing hurt so much during that time I didn't notice that she was digging in with her teeth and now she essentially can't ever latch on without doing that. I night weaned last month and that helped some obviously and it also (surprisingly to me) cut down on day time requests to nurse. So we are at morning, nap and bedtime with 1 or 2 other random day time sessions usually. I wish I could let her nurse for as long as she wants (about 10 minutes) but I can usually only make it about 2-5 before I have to make her stop (this never goes over well). I have tried everything I can think of but I don't know how to teach her to relatch without using her teeth. She has a conversation with me like she totally gets it and then just does it every time. I'm hoping to make it to a Toddler LLL meeting next week for advice and will go see an LC if they can do anything to help. I want her to decide when she is done nursing and more than anything I want to make it through the winter. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

No advice, but I didn't want to read and run. That sounds really hard.
LLL and LC are where I would turn, too.

I hope you get the help you need.

no real advice, but I have I have heard if you ask them to stick out their tongue when the latch on that can help.

Good luck. I know what you mean about having to stop because it just hurts too much there have been times where I was just consumed with pain

I second the sticking tongue out comment. This is how I helped my son not bite me when latching when he was older and cutting teeth. Best of luck
