Suddenly she loves to pee while sitting on the floor!

We've been ECing since birth, and at 3 months suddenly 'got' it. We've been very successful since then.

At 8 months though she's interested in sitting on the floor and playing with stuff. She'll stop, look down, then pee (she's usually makes or just with a top). She can see it come out then loves to PLAY with it by slapping her hand in it!! Usually we catch it earlier, but if we've stepped away the first thing we notice is laughing and wet slapping!!

Any ideas to get her back to the sink/toilet? I am offering more which is helping, but I think she likes going pee on the floor.

Anyone else been through this?

I'm going through it right now!  We started EC at 6 months, my daughter is now 9 months.  I will offer and offer on the BBLP and it's an almost deliberate refusal to go on the potty chair right now.  If I leave her bare butt and let her get off the potty (who am I kidding, she forces her way off the potty!) she will crawl off and pee right on the floor.  If it's on the carpet, she just looks down and doesn't really play - however, she typically will crawl over to the wood floor, pee, then do the same splashing with hands and kicking in it with her feet.

I have to say, I'm responding mostly because I want to follow along with responses.  I have no idea what to do, we went from catching about 50/50 to really only catching after naps -- and even then it's normally just a few dribbles because she will have gone by the time I hear/see that she is stirring and go get her.  And I KNOW she knows what the potty is for!

I think in my case it's a potty strike, but... I don't understand why she goes on the floor immediately after me offering the potty.  greensad.gif

Oh, yes, that phase.  orngbiggrin.gif

I have no idea what to do about it. Carpet the place so they can't splash in it so much, so as to reduce the incentive? I don't know. Wipe up immediately, for sure. Providing other water to play with might help.

It does end, though. Good luck!

Dare I say my 12mo seems to be coming out of that phase....  Oh how I hope I didn't jinx it by saying that!  I kinda gave up on letting her go without some kind of undies/trainers for awhile.  I just read this post and realized she hasn't played in a puddle in a while.  She LOVES to look at her pee in her BBLP.  She laughes and tried to touch it when I say "see your pee-pee!"  I think the months of doing that, being happy about the pee in the potty but quickly wiping up the puddles has maybe started to click.  She still wants to touch it thoughredface.gif

Don't know if this is any help....

I remember this! Our dd who is now 22 months went through this. I think she just got distracted while playing with things and just went on the floor, there were also times I think she knew what she was doing and wanted to play in the pee. She LOVES playing in water and it was a total game for her. So I just said, Oh you peed, let's clean it up and next time let's try to pee on the potty. She loved helping clean it up. She would get a cloth diaper from the drawer, wipe it up and put it in the diaper bin. She's moved on and just goes to get her potty now when she needs to go.
