What's your favorite "larger" indoor toy/activity? - Page 2

This thread is Teh Awesome.

It's making me want to keep the TV in the living room upstairs and make the whole basement into a play area.

We like those mini trampoline things.

A giant set of cardboard blocks. http://www.ronjuneshop.com/40pcblockset.html

http://www.rodytoy.com/ Rody is the best toy we have! He's awesome. But, it's more of a two-five year old toy. Any younger than two is too small to ride very well unless they have long legs.

GREAT thread, we're working on overhauling our basement space also for the coming winter. We live in a really nasty climate area, so we get a few days of fall and then BAM...winter for MONTHS. Thanks for the AWESOME ideas, so much to choose from!

Our basement is only partially finished with open rafters and cement floor so I covered about a third of the floor with foam tiles and put in a (large) Little Tykes slide, a Step 2 Kangaroo Climber, and a Little Tykes playhouse. (mostly for my home daycare kids)
We also hung a swing, a set of rings, a trapeze bar and a knotted rope from the rafters and an industrial cargo (shipping) net on one wall for climbing.

We have a ping pong table (for us and our own kids) a dart board (for us) and a room full of wood ends from Dh's various sites that our own kids use to make things with their hammers and whatever nails they can scrounge up.

I'll bring in the trikes and ride ons when winter hits. Our basement entryway is huge, and it's empty so it makes an awesome room for little guys to drive in.

I have fabric tunnels, a tent, a spring horse and huge foam blocks for building as well, but only take them out once in a while to change things up a bit.

Sometimes, when I can get my hands on a large roll of paper I duct tape a length of it to the wall and the kids can paint a mural (that eats up a couple hours of rainy/snowy afternoon )

No little toys though, just the equipment, like a playground, easy to clean, easy to organize.

This gets me through our looooong spells of crummy weather with my sanity intact.

I would recommend floor mats and/or playhut tents/tunnels like the ones I had:

A table for activities is a must.We had train sets, legos of all sizes, paints, and crafts.A box with dress up cloths and costumes.

Our kids got a bounce house thingy for Christmas, and it was a HUGE hit! Ours was kinda cheap, and it eventually developed leaks (which I hear is a common occurrence), but it was really great while it lasted!

We have a quality set of tents and tunnels (three tents, two short tunnels, and one really long tunnel) i think it was $125 all together. We got it when Ava was 2 so it is almost 6 years old. The long tunnel bit it, most likely from abuse, but everything else is still in great shape. i like that they can put it away and use the space for other things. They ride scooters in the basement often. We also have a mini tramp. I recommend this over an inflatable.
