I have had a headache/migraine since yesterday evening, and I don't know what to do. I was very close to having DH take me to the ER last night. I was up most of the night in so much pain. I'd cry, but it just makes it worse. I'm taking Tylenol, drinking a Pepsi for caffeine and nausea relief, and using my lavender and peppermint aromatherapy lotion. Any other suggestions? My next option is to go to the doctor/hospital, and without insurance that is going to cost an arm and a leg!

I suffered from severe headaches during pregnancy with my DS. For me the solution really was as simple as drinking more water. Much more water. I have always been a water drinker and easily drink 64 oz. a day, but during pregnancy my needs are higher.

I know that sounds ridiculous and you have probably already looked at your water intake. But, just double check. During my last two pregnancies, I have found that the headache will begin creeping up on me until I "catch up" on my water.

One of my friends had the same issue. She did go to the hospital and they put her on ringer's lactate IVs. After two bags she felt much better. She had no idea that she was dehydrated. It is so easy to be when you are pregnant.

Another thing to double check is that you are not eating foods with MSG ( including hydrolyzed vegetable proteins, autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed yeast, yeast extract, soy extracts, and protein isolate, etc...). Even if it did not bother you in the past, it may now now that you are more sensitive in pregnancy.

I am so sorry that you are in such pain. It can effect everything, can't it? I do hope that you find relief soon.

My ob sent me to a neuro in my previous pregnancy for migraines. He and she agreeed on midrin for my migraines while preggo. It worked relatively well, but knocked me out so I couldn't really take it if I was at work or had things I had to get done. As long as I coukd go to bed it was ok. I seem to be really sensative to those effects though. Ymmv

April 2011 but I've been having the same problem so I figured I'd post. I'm 9 weeks and working on my second migraine. Tingling hands, vomiting, blurry vision the works. Things that help me:
Cutting out sugar and eating protein frequently throughout the day. This one is critical for prevention.
L-tryptophan, magnesium and Pulsatilla (homeopathic)
Alternating hot and cold packs on my neck/head
sipping baking soda and water (once the vomiting starts)
Tylenol as soon as the first symptom shows up (usually I never take medications).

I hope one of those things helps!
