Never Let Me Go....any good?

Is this a good book? I've heard both a review of the book and the upcoming movie on NPR and wonder if it is worth a read.
Sounds good?

I enjoyed it. It's been a long time since I read it, so I can't give you details, sorry. I recall thinking there were flaws in the story, but discussing them would involve spoilers I think.

It's a haunting story, not exactly action-packed though. If you read When We Were Orphans and liked it, I think Never Let Me Go is much better.

Oh, I really liked this book. So sad, so interesting, lots to think about. I think it depends on what kinds of books you like. As the PP said, it isn't super fast-paced or action packed. But it's lovely and haunting.

OK, well, it's on my Kindle now...so far, so good.
The trailer for the movie looks great--so here we go.

I hope you report back once you've read it and let us know what you think.

So far...so good. The only thing I find unsettling is the language--the narrator is supposed to be in her 30s telling a story from her youth. But her grammar is horrible...and then there is the wrong word choices and all sorts of other issues that you would think a 30-something would be beyond.
So...I don't know. I don't like seeing "learnt" in print. There are other minor issues. In fact, I wish the narrator was more articulate in general--so I don't know about that either. OK, I'm just too critical. LOL

Ishiguro is British and "learnt" is acceptable British usage, so you may have to give him that one.

I don't specifically recall grammar issues, but if you are questioning the quality of the narrator's education, and her emotional, psychological and spiritual development, that's very interesting.....

ETA: I know what you mean about "learnt", btw. I feel the same way about "whilst".

I loved Never Let Me Go, but not until I finished it and read it again.
