Apples!!

My lovely friend gave me a huge bag of them. I want to make something yummy before they all disappear. What should I make? I could make the usual pie or crisp, but I'd love to play around and try something new.

Apple chutney, maybe?

We have a bunch too and are dehydrating them for snacks, yummy! How about apple sauce or apple butter?

I make a coffee cake, and instead of topping it with crumbs, I top it with thin slices of apple, sprinkle with cinnamon and some brown sugar, and then bake.

We also like to make squash-and-apple bake. I cut slices of apple, and peeled slices of butternut or acorn squash, or even pumpkin, and then put them all in a casserole. I add some cinnamon, a bit of brown sugar or honey, and a few nice big pats of butter. Then I bake it at 375 until the squash and apples are tender but not mushy.

I recommend apple muffins. Delicious - http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Apple-M...-2/Detail.aspx

The squash and apple bake sounds yummy! I may have to give that a try this weekend!

I once had a piece of a raw food apple pie where the crust was made out of dates and nuts and the filling was basically apples, raisins, and cinnamon. I still can't believe how tasty it was especially since it was supposed to be healthy.

I just did a quick search and found this recipe:

I'm going to have to try to make this myself!

Homemade applesauce is the best! The store bought kind is so gritty and wrong.

We went apple picking last week and made apple crisp and apple butter. All soooo good.
