After breastfeeding/formula...? - Page 2

I've never tried coconut but I hate almond milk. I don't just dislike it, I hate it. I tried it one time trying to avoid buying more soy but I had to pour it down the drain. I like my chocolate soy milk though. I never have more than a glass or two a day and can go weeks or months just 'forgetting' to buy it. I've probably only had a gallon and a half since I got pregnant.

I have cow milk allergy... I got a Jersey to see if I could escape that. I can't drink her milk, but I can drink milk from my mom's Jersey... Go figure. I believe Guernseys are almost entirely A2, if that helps. Just something to think about. Don't ditch all raw cow milk until you've shopped around.
It was HFS raw, so most likely A1 or a mix. I've been trying to get ahold of a guy w an A2 herd, but hes not getting back to me. I have several gallons of raw goat in my freezer though, so we'll be good for a while. I just figure he wasnt quite 1 when we tried it, so i'd wait and try again later, since trying it at all was a fluke.

that's really funny that people would get bent out of shape by the phrase "cow milk". that's what it is. i refer to breast milk as "milk" (when obviously referring to baby's drinking it) or "mama milk". cow's milk, i just call milk unless i'm referring to its use by young children, or differentiating between cow milk, human milk, and milk substitutes.. in which case i call it cow milk.

people seem to get pretty worked up when i say "milk" referring to ordinary human milk. it's as if cow milk is the gold standard, and if you're talking about BREAST milk, you have to say BREAST! you know, because cow milk is the natural thing for us to drink right

the same people looked at us really weird when my 2 year old said "i want milk", and i picked her up and gave her a breast. apparently the common term is num-nums, booby juice, etc. *snicker*

I give DD sheeps milk- it's from a local farm but it is gently pasteurized. I also give her raw organic grass fed cows milk when I can get it. She loooves her milk and digests it well- she is 3 and I feel good knowing she has a had a glass or 2 of high quality milk a day. It can be full of many nutrients and honestly 3 can be a picky age- I have friends who dont really do milk but I'm not sure the kids are getting enough fat or calcium (they eat a very SAD diet). I dont think milk is necessary BUT if it is digested well and is high quality I think it is a great addition to a child diet. I would also not touch soy.
