My neighbor and I were pregnant at the same time, and they were our back up plan if my parents weren't in town at the time. (They flew in for the birth and did end up being here, so DD just stayed at our house with them.)
I did take neighbor's son at 3 am when they left for the hospital. They brought him over with a pack and play, and he didn't even wake up.
I'm glad DD wasn't at the hospital during the labor, because I think she would have been bored and uncomfortable.
