Moving to a state without philosophical exemption?

Hiya. I love that Texas has the philosophical exemption but I hate the heat. DH and I are discussing moving (he's in the army) to a different post but the places we were looking at because they're cooler and closer to home don't have the philosophical exemption, only the religious and medical.

Is this only a problem when the kids start school or do I need an exemption for the doctors and such? I'd like to follow Dr Sears's schedule and I think that should have them 'caught up' before the first grade but I'm nervous about getting hassled until then.

It depends on where you are. There's no reason why you need an exemption for the doctor per se, but where I am, many practices won't take patients who don't follow the schedule, so it requires research to find a doctor.

I figured that. I'm also looking at their school requirements and its all jacked up. They don't just specify how many vaccinations, they tell you WHEN they're suppsoed to be! What would they really do if you didn't get them at the specified time but are still properly 'caught up' (cause I'm definitely not starting Hep B immediately)?

hmm, that's odd. They're probably just going by the CDC schedule. I did way delayed vaxing, caught my daughter up right before kindgergarten, so she didn't have anything on time or on schedule, nothing!

I guess I'd call the school nurse where you're moving and play dumb. Say something like "oops, looks like we missed some shots, what do we do?"
