Book recs for bio kids in soon to be foster to adopt family

My SIL and BIL and their family are going down the foster to adopt path. They are meeting a 5yo and 17yo sibling pair this weekend. I'd like to get my nieces (ages 9 and 12) books geared towards folks their age that might help them empathize with their future foster siblings, and also that might empathize with what they are going through as their family grows in this unique way. Does anyone here have any favorites to recommend?

What do you all think of Three Little Words? Would it be ok for a bright 12 year old?

I haven't read that book but I did read the reviews on Amazon. I "think" it might be helpful but I'd read it first to be sure.

I am concerned about them considering a child who is so much older than their own, but I'm sure that they have given it a lot of thought. I'd caution to take things VERY slowly. The life experiences of a child from an at-risk family (which requires out of home care) are likely extremely different than those of their biological children.

The Ocean Within. It's been years since I read it but I recall it being good.
