Circ presentation-help and ideas - Page 2

Yea for Toolip! Way to go! Keep talking about this subject -- you have an ideal audience and it sounds like you know your stuff.

And, personally, I *HATE* the "little snip" argument. My best friend IRL is totally crunchy, AP/nursing/wearing/co-sleeping mom, yet she allowed her son to be circ'd. Her explanation to me (somewhat sheepishly) was, "well, (DH) wanted him to match, so we got him snipped." I almost walked out of the conversation, it made me so upset. Her son went on to have a lot of trouble nursing (trouble not replicated with her daughter ... go figure), and I think she knows in her heart that the so-called "snip" played a part of it. She's never said it, but it's been implied. I feel bad for her, but I feel worse for him. Fortunately, he didn't have any life-threatening consequences ... but he is a kid who I guarantee will ask her later in life why she let them cut on his penis ... good luck explaining that one!

Didn't mean to hijack your thread! Just struck by the "snip" reference.

Toolip, Good for you !! I totaly admire people like you, who have the fortitude to take on such a polarizing and emotionaly charged subject without feeling embarrassed. You obviously conducted your research carefully and articulated your point of view very well. I hope you get the opportunity to do it again in the future. Congratulations !!

Fantastic!!! What a wonderful feeling, I'm sure! I half want to go back to school so I can do papers and presentations on genital integrity and circ.

Great news (I went to "like" the update and then realized I wasn't on FB)! I'm so glad you were able to reach so many people. Do you mind sharing what part of the world you're in? Are you in the US?

I'm in a small hippy town in northern California. Honestly, I was shocked because I thought I was preaching to the choir!

It was kind of depressing to realize that there is so much ignorance here, where cd, ebf, bwing and all things crunchy are the "mainstream." But it was really satisfying to bring them all to the other side!
