Amazing Race - Anyone Watching?

So, my husband and I always have date night in front of the TV on Sunday nights and the Amazing Race is our favorite!

Did anyone else watch? This season, there were no teams that I automatically hated, so that was a change. Actually liked the team that was eliminated. would have lliked to see more of them. LOVE the acapella guys. I hope they stay in for a while.

I thought it was interesting that some of the teams have this need to make nicknames for all of the other teams. For some reason, that really bugs my dh.

Looks like it's going to be a good season.

YES!!! DH and I LOVE this show and we're thrilled to have it back on! It's hard to get to know everyone when there are so many groups but as the field narrows down, I'm sure I'll get some favorites. I am bummed that they, once again, have the verbally abusive boyfriend and submissive girlfriend couple that they always do.

Watched it, loved it. "The country of London". *sigh*. Hate that abusive man. And wow, getting hit in the face with that watermelon must have hurt!

BLERG! I missed it. I am out of the TV loop....off to set the DVR. That is one dh will watch with me.

I'll be back to kibbitz later!

We almost missed it last night! I was sorry to see team Wiz go - I wish it was Team "Country of London" instead .

We watched it. I love this show!
I'm a fan of the doctors. The watermelon incident could have been bad. I was impressed she got back up and kept going, I'm not sure I would have done that. I love "country of London" team. The way they were running around asking the people on top of the castle if they were a battlement was hilarious. Didn't she say something about not really being that dumb.

Yeah, I loved the "country of London" team, too! DH and I were cracking up when she said, "I'd never heard of Stonehedge (her word, not mine); and then they tell me it's a bunch of rocks".

I think the stress and excitement might have added to their, uh...less than intelligent comments. I hope!

I generally don't watch TV, but the Amazing Race is the one show that I do! Even when DS was really small it was my one hour "off"....

I was disappointed those two guys got eliminated, they seemed pretty smart and I would've like to have seen more of them.

I cannot believe the tattoo'd couple... she's never heard of Stonehenge??!!! London is a country???!!! I hope they don't last long, they'd annoy me if they do.

I'm also looking forward to watching the doctor pair, I would think their line of work (sleep deprivation, high stress) will help them with the game.

Also, something I've always wondered about (with other seasons too) - if you knew you were doing the amazing race, wouldn't you practice driving a stick-shift? There's a pretty good chance you'll end up needing to drive one at some point during the race!

When she said that, I turned to my dh and said, "Hasn't she ever watch Spinal Tap?" If nothing else, you would have heard of it from there.

Exactly! I said the same thing to DH. We love watching it as a family and are so thrilled it's back!

Love the nerdy guys too.

Oh yea, what's up with them not giving a free trip to the 1st team to arrive? Now they give out the "Free Access" pass instead.

It's sort of like going on survivor without learning how to make a fire. I don't understand! I can't drive a stick, but if I was planning on doing something like this, I'd sure as heck learn. I imagine it must have been hard for even the people who knew how, though, with everything on the opposite side.

I don't like the volleyball players or the home shopping network girls. They both seem so catty. I liked the father/daughter team. I am not sure about the mother/daughter team. I don't really think this is the best way to get to know each other and I hope that it doesn't really screw with their relationship.

The tattooed team was not the counytr of London team. The newly dating going to propose team (came in 1st) was the country of London team.

No, it was right at the end - the host asked the tatoo girl what country they were in, and she said London.

I hope that biker tatt couple stays. They're comedic gold. Between not knowing Stonehenge (excuse me.."Stonehedge" ), the Country of London, battlements ("Are you a battlement?"), they are going to be making Mr. BookGoddess and I howl with laughter. The whole battlement thing reminded me of the "Are you a candle-a-bra?" from last season.

I was sad to see the two guys eliminated. They seemed low-key and not abusive to each other which is always something I liked to see on ATR.

So far no one is a favorite, but Team Doctors, Team Father/Son, Team Father/Daughter, and Team Glee (I want to call them Team Harry Potter ) aren't bugging me.
Did the doctor who tested her sugar level while driving say her level was 337? Holy cow! That is really high. I hope I heard it wrong.

Don't the bio mom/reunited adopted daughter look so much alike? It's uncanny! They do need to have more urgency and drive. DH was cringing when the mom ruined the car with her inability to drive a stick shift.
If you come on this show, you MUST have no fear of heights or water, you must know how to drive a manual transmission car, you must be willing to eat all sorts of exotic food items.

I agree. Their relationship is so new and fragile. This race brings out the worst in people and it's not surprising given the jet lag, long flights, frustrating tasks, living in places that are so different from home. I hope they don't ruin their relationship.

Is it wrong that I hit rewind and replayed the watermelon to the face incident more than once? Ouch! Poor girl!

I agree that there are a lot of likable teams. The only people rubbing me the wrong way are bad temper boyfriend and way too hyper/cheerleady blonde home shopping host.

I really like the doctors and team Glee.

My DH must have watched it 4 or 5 times. That must have hurt so bad and she was really lucky she didn't break her nose.

I really like the Father/Daughter team and team harry potter. I was really sad to see the team that left go, though if you watch their elimination station video they are so good sports about it.
