hello all!

i'm still kind of new and trying to get established on this lovely forum of people.

our donor is in town for the week, and i had a hint of a line of this morning's ovulation test. yay! so i'm 1/2 to 2 days away from ovulating, and we're going to start the inseminations tonight. omg! i'm so excited and nervous!

If you are trying use instead mestral cups they work like a charm.

i do have a diva cup from lunapads that i use for my periods. i may end up using is for keeping the spermies in, but right now i'm okay with just propping up for a while.
i'd be impossible to insem like that, though. i have to fold it to get it in. what a mess! haha.

FYI, the disposable Instead cups are quite different from reusable menstrual cups like the Diva or the Keeper. Instead cups are shaped differently and made to fit right up over the cervix, where the Diva rests lower in the vagina. In fact, one of the selling points of the Instead cup seems to be that you can still have (penetrative) sex while it is inserted. For TTC purposes, this means it keeps the sperm up against the cervical opening. I used Instead cups, before switching to a Keeper a few years ago, and I do think you could put the sperm in the flexible part of the cup, then fold the top rim in half and insert without spilling. (Note: I do not have personal experience with sperm, so I am definitely not an authority on this maneuver.)

I meant this to be a quick note, just in case you did decide to try methods of keeping the sperm in, but then I found info on the google (see here for images of the difference: http://www.mum.org/KeeperInsteadpic.htm), got sort of OCD-fascinated for a few minutes, and thought I would share.

Good luck!
