dd at 12 months has been prescribed zantac for 2 weeks. i have no problems medicating when necessary but this is not such an obvious choice. she's not had problems with reflux at all as a babe, didn't even spit up.

what the deal is is that she had a nasty stomach bug a few weeks ago and was still vomiting daily a week later. seeing as she wasn;t acting ill and it was going on so long i called the doc. apparently the virus coudl have weekened her esophogial muscles causing reflux and continued vomiting (she even vomits bananas which apparently makes even more sense b/c they can irritate reflux.)

well, it seemed to stop so i didn;t fill the script but now 3 weeks later, she's vomited twice in 2 days.

i'm fine with the vomiting and she's happy before and after but she is waking up a few times a night crying and then going back to sleep so i'm wondering if i shouldn't just give it to her in case she is feeling discomfort. on the other hand i'm not really aware of the potential side effects and if i should risk them in such a borderline reflux case.

any experience?
