Nursing Strike at 10 months?

I have a friend who's 10 month old son is on strike for nursing - he arches his back and turns his head away anytime she tries. He's been on strike since pneumonia and a viral infection sent him to the hospital three times and then after his hospital visits the family moved 2 weeks later which is why we suspect he is on strike but don't know how to get him off. Has anyone else had this experience and what would you do? TIA!

I actually sent her that exact article and no she is not pumping regularly to keep up her supply she has started using formula instead. Any other thoughts?

My DS had his first cold at 10/11 months and ended up on a nursing strike because of it. I think it was because he was so stuffy that it was too hard to breathe and nurse at the same time. Someone on here advised me to try popping my nipple into his mouth when he was asleep and see if he would nurse like that... he did and it worked. I think the strike lasted a week, maybe a week and a half. He did nurse a little here and there, but not much during that time until I was able to trick him into it. Also dripping breastmilk into his nose to clear it out helped a lot, too. I would not suggest supplementing with formula, though... if he gets full, what's his motivation to try the breast? That has always seemed like such a slippery slope to me.
