how to keep babe warm this winter

I can't believe I FORGET what to buy to get my babe warm! He's 3 months now, and I was thinking of what to outfit him in when we go for walks/go for drives and run errands.

I was thinking something like this [same idea, not that exact one]

For when we walk/go out. But is it too warm for the car? Does he need just a long sleeved shirt underneath that in the middle of January if we go for a walk

HELP!

That would not be appropriate for the car. You should not have anything heavier than fleece between the carseat straps and the baby. Anything fluffier could be compressed in an accident and cause baby to shift within or even out of the seat.

Looks very nice though for walking. Last winter we didn't put anything special on the baby, we just put the cover (elastic around the edge with the little fold down window) over the car seat and he stayed very warm.

ETA: We didn't take walks until it warmed up though since DS is a March baby and it was nicer outside pretty quickly.

Keeping baby on your body will help also to maintain warmth.

DD was 3 months last January, and for walks I'd put her in a onesie and cotton pants, socks, a sweater, a one-piece winter suit, and a hat. I'd then cover her with a blanket or two in the stroller. On windy/snowy days, I'd also close the top of the stroller (she was in a bucket seat with the sun visor that would fold up or down). Even when it was -25 and Mommy was freezing in her down coat, DD was always toasty warm--so much so that I'd often adjust her layers to cool her down a bit.

I'm wondering about this year, though, as her stroller is more open and she's a whole lot more mobile. I'll keep an eye on this thread for ideas!

That looks good except for the car seat. We got a fleecey thing that was made like a snowsuit kind of but obviously not puffy or as warm because it was just fleece, and then we also put a blanket over her after she was buckled in the carseat for additional warmth.
