My ds nearly 8 wks has co-slept from birth. He usually does not settle down for the night until about midnight/1am.
So last night I was up on the computer during this time, and he was laying on changing mat (on floor) playing "kick-the-blanket"
until he finally crashed out all on his own (though he had cluster-nursed for about two hours before and had plenty of nekkie butt time).
I had insomnia so stayed awake for a lot longer, and though he wiggled and made cute little noises, but slept solid by himself until almost dawn.
Normally, lying next to me in bed, he will wake up 2-3 times during that period to nurse.
However, that might be because he will start wiggling or grunting, and I will just roll over and pop the boob in his mouth
So what's up with that? If the baby is sleeping better by themselves, is it wiser to let him start out in his bed so that he's used to it later? We have a lovely rocking bassinet that we haven't used much because he just regularly comes to bed with me.
What do ya think?
