Who has to give inventive dates for LMP? - Page 2

Oh yes, after arguing with the doctors over both Orion's and Fiona's due dates because I have wacky cycles I just lied this time around with Charlotte. And funny enough *all* my ultrasounds have only been off by 1-2 days from when *I* know I ovulated. My LMP was Feb 2nd, but I didn't ovulate until day 29! So I just told them Feb 19th. I was even having a conversation with a perinatologist about when I ovulated as compared to the ultrasound and he said "well the egg can live in a woman's body unfertilized for up to a week"... wha?! Not by *any* of the educational sources I've read buddy! That'd be the *sperm* there Oh Specialist Doctor Of Pregnancy.

I love my MW. I told her my LMP and told her my due date by that and then said but I think it's more like the 20th because I have 32 day cycles and she goes...okay I'll put it as the 20th.
We did that last pregnancy too...I had about a weeks difference in dates based on LMP and ovulation(I knew that ovulation date) and so since my babies come at 40 weeks we just picked a day in the middle

Yeah, I had to fake my dates for this pregnancy and I should have done it with my DD too (I don't normally ovulate until day 19-20). I really didn't like being told I was so overdue when the doctors were almost a week off on their dates!

OK... wait... you can fudge it??

I'm about two weeks from my 8 week plus first OB visit.

I don't think I can fudge it cause things were so wacky during this cycle (first TTC cycle) that I ended up going to my primary doc so it's all going to be in my chart.

LMP was 6/17/10
positive pregnancy test was 9/10/10
had tested on 8/31 and gotten a negative.
I think my conception date was 8/28 - that's what I've been going by... but I have no real idea. I had just gotten a thermometer and hadn't been charting, nor was I OPKing obsessively.

I think the u/s will be helpful to help me date it... thoughts?

Yeah, definitely get one. At only 8W, sometimes they do trans-vaginal. But either way, they can be quite accurate in dating the pregnancy. It's at about the 20W US that genetics kicks in & you should reject attempts to alter due date (not every 20W baby will be the same size! But at 8W, there's a lot of uniformity in size & there's a big difference between 7, 8 and 9W, which is why it's accurate to use early US to date.)

I really think it's worth knowing - especially at the end, if a problem arises & you want to induce, you know how risky it is (i.e. 38W being relatively less risky than 36), or if you go past 42W, etc. While many believe, "Babies come when they're ready" the fact of the matter is that the risk of stillbirth goes up after 42W (although it's still low) - placentas do sometimes begin to calcify & stop adequately supporting the baby. So, all in all, it's really helpful to know if you're really only 41W (no biggie, if all is well otherwise) or 43W (induction worth at least considering.)

Anna - in your situation, I'd get the early u/s as well - I think the ladies that are talking about fudging dates know when they ovulated so it's a different story. Since you are not sure, it's definitely worth it in your case to find out.

I used this due date calculator

If I went by LMP (7/31/10) then EDD would be 5/7/2011.

BUT

I O'd later than "standard"... So..if I put in my O date of 8/19/2010, EDD is 5/12/2011.

When I first went in to my doc at almost 5.6 weeks, they did a sono and only found a yolk sak and said I was not even 5 weeks. I'd given them my LMP date and so they were concerned about lack of growth.
I went back to my doc on the 28th and said "Oops, I double checked my calendar and LMP was actually on 8/5/2010" Doc said "Oh. Well...that makes more sense with your last sono".
We still have a dating sono around the 12th. Should be about 9.5 weeks. But I'm pretty confident with the EDD of May 12th.

With this baby i had to go with the day that I gave myself my trigger shot to trigger ovulation...because i have really long cycles and my LMP for this pregnancy was February 19th. So i think that puts my due date at 11/27 (which i figure she'll get here by then anyway) because they only like to calculate with 28 day cycles. If you go by my typical 45 day cycle i am due right when I should be. So who knows!!!!! LOL But I don't see the problem in giving a made up date especially if you can't remember or whatever.
