best nighttime diapering solution for 14 mo

i don't think dd is a heavy wetter, per se, but she's been waking up soaked lately. we've had her sleeping in gdiapers for awhile b/c they seemed to work really well. but now, not so much.

i have a bunch of flats, prefolds, and doublers — would a combination of those and some wool soakers do the trick? i've had a couple friends who cd say that they even use disposables at night b/c they can't keep their lo's dry otherwise.

Is she nursing more at night? That might explain the wetter diapers. I did end up going to disposables at night with ds because he was such a heavy wetter. I had tried pockets and also AIOs with lots of layers and even with a gigantic diaper butt he would soak through them all and overflow onto the bed. I would actually use two disposables, a cloth diaper, and a wool cover over all of it to prevent leaks at night. I hope dd is not like that.

I have a 15 month old and a 29 month old, both rather heavy wetters and both exclusively in cloth. The only thing that works for us at night is 2 prefolds with a doubler (hemp or MF) in between and snappi-ed on underneath a Disana wool cover. A dancing bear fleece cover will work but the Disana is totally bullet proof for us.

My guy is a really heavy wetter. The only thing that works for us is a Happy Hempy pocket fitted with the stay dry liner (or else he'd be up multiple times from the wet). I just had to increase the stuffings this week, he just turned 1. We were using 2 trifold infant PFs and a Babykicks Hemparoo doubler in there. Now it's that plus a Loopy-Do. Under either a Babyology soaker/longies or right now he's wearing a custom wool flannel wrap by Piper's Closet. Both are pretty bulletproof. I can't put him in PUL though, or it leaks.

He can't really crawl very easily in this combo, it's so bulky, but it comes off in the morning sopping wet, with the cover also wet, and weighing something like 4 or 5 pounds. But so long as I keep him in a wool cover he rarely leaks.

I hope no mamas get offended by me saying this, but I have to be honest.. I don't understand why some of us fluff our babies butts up so much that they can't even close their legs or lie flat on their backs if they want to! I totally understand not wanting to wake up with sopping wet sheets in the morning (especially those of us that co-sleep), but how comfortable is that for the baby? In the past, we had leak issues with our DD. We all co-sleep, and in the morning there would be a huge puddle of pee under her bum. We were (and still are) using FuzziBunz mediums, but they had the older 3 layer inserts in them instead of the new 4 layer ones. NOW, DD is almost a year old, and by using the 4 layer inserts in her OS dipes, and a 4 layer insert + a thin hemp doubler in her Mediums dipes, we have banished leaks for good, and there is no bulky balloon booty!

For one, we can't use synthetic fibers. Both my kids get very red butts from it. Second, it doesn't bother them. Both my kids can walk and flop and around in bed and pretty much do their normal thing with their night time diaper on.

Well, what's the other option? Changing them in the night? Not going to happen unless i want to be up for a few hours. Sposies? Also not going to happen. My diaper combo holds about 30 oz of pee - find me a diaper combo that holds that much without the bulk and im happy to use it.

He has no need to crawl around at night, and he is not generally a back sleeper, although has no difficulty doing so. He flops around on the bed just fine despite the bulky diaper, and usually gets changed immediately when he wakes so he can go do his thing. I dont see the problem.

Like I said, I definitely wasn't trying to offend anyone. I honestly haven't tried super-stuffing DD's diapers so I don't know what happens when you do that. Everyone has to find what works best for them. For me, I can change her during the night, but it's because she wakes up to nurse a few times still, so it's not like I am personally waking her up. I was just curious to know how that worked for you guys, so thanks for clearing it up!
