mismatched socks and rice bags

So, at work there are hundreds (literally) of solo socks that someone brought in free for the taking. Anything interesting to do with them?

Also, I was realizing that we throw away those plastic rice bags (from quinoa) that people make those beautiful things out of. I hate throwing things out. I can't recall what things they make though. Any ideas?

Sock puppets

Heat/cold packs (fill a sock with rice/wheat, and tie up the end. They can be kept in the freezer as a cold pack or heated for a minute in a microwave)

24 cute kid socks make a nice advent calender. There were lots of ideas round here last year for things to put in each day
