Travel & Splitting Expenses

Hey all,
My best friend, her 3 teens and I will be travelling together for a week, soon and we're pondering how best to split the cost of the one hotel room we'll all be sharing. Ideas?
None of the kids have jobs so their mom will be covering all their expenses for the trip.

I would say 60/40 and have her pay for her families meals. I don't think dividing it by the number of people would really be truly fair since it is only one room. If so, then she might as well just get her own room. I would do completely seperate tabs on meals as this is an area, you could potentially end up paying for more than your share.

If the teens are not adults then I'd split 50/50 on the hotel & any gas that may be incurred.

50/50 on the flat rate of the hotel room, any extras get billed to the person (roll away beds etc)

seperate tabs at dinner

Keep in mind things like this NEVER work out even someone always feels like they were wronged.

We have traveled together before, plenty of times and have never had a problem w/expense sharing. We just couldn't recall how we'd split the hotel before when we had her kids w/us so I thought I'd see what others would recommend...
