Frankenfish- Genetically engineered Salmon

Are the engineered salmon to be used only for farms or will they be released into the wild too?

This is fairly recent on salmon farming in general. This is more general information. I'm not sure they address your specific concern. They may provide further links for you.

I signed a petition against this through the Food Democracy Now! website a couple of weeks ago. There is some info on it there. Also if you google it looks like some senators are trying to stop the FDA approval of the GMO salmon.

ETA: Here is a blog post. After reading how the fish are made they definitely sound like frankenfish!

They are seriously trying to alter our food supply with GE foods, I personally don't think Ge foods should ever be used for animal or human consumption. Other countries have very strict policies against GE, but the U.S. seems careless. I hope they do not proceed with raising engineered salmon, sounds like it could be very risky for the healthy salmon population we do have. The whole idea is just plain wrong!
