.....Am I the only nosey one who loves when people post their days?

I'll go first

Woke up at around 7:30 and snuggled both kids out of sheer laziness
Putzed around in jammies for a bit drinking coffee, nursing babe etc
Mothers helper came so I could have mommy/daughter time
Got 3 year old dressed and had to read books in between {I think I showered too}
Went to bookstore to sit and have a latte and read Halloween books
Free music class which was cute but not cute enough to shell out $100 for (maybe I'm cheap, but I feel like if we are going to do a class it has to blow my mind)
Got a snack at cafe before heading home!
Made dinner [pasta and burgers and broccoli] and started watching a Halloween movie while I nursed babe.
Painted pumpkins
Read, baby massage for all with lavender oils, warm milk and bed for both!

I'm game! I've never done this before.
  • Woke up around 4am because of stupid pregnancy insomnia.
  • DD woke up around 6:30 screaming, that woke DS up.
  • Made them both breakfast, then we all went to wake DH up.
  • DH left for work and took DD to drop her off at school.
  • Internetted while DS played and boiler guy serviced boiler. Made occasional comments very loudly to DS about how Mommy was working so that boiler guy wouldn't think I'm a lazy and bad mommy ignoring my child so I could spend all day on the internet.
  • Went to the OB
  • Came home and did breakfast dishes (I couldn't use hot water while boiler guy was here so they had to wait)
  • Picked DD up at preschool.
  • Made lunch for both kids.
  • Put DS down for nap and DD down for rest time while I furiously cleaned the kitchen and hoped that the speech therapist wouldn't suggest venturing any further into the messy house.
  • Woke DS up for his speech therapist. Set DD up to do lord knows what with my computer to get her out of the way
  • Sewed while kids played. And by played, I mean screamed and fought and hit and climbed all over me.
  • Warmed up a pre-made beef stew dinner from the freezer (best idea I ever had, btw), made a side of peas. They also had bananas and some other random stuff. I try to do the 5 different dishes thing.
  • Both kids asked to go to bed by 6. Sweet! Either that, or they're sick. NOT sweet. But possible, since I've developed an awful cold over the course of today.
  • Sewed a bit more. Listened to a podcast about the invention of calculus and one about St. Thomas Aquinas. I'm a nerd.
  • Furiously cleaned so that the cleaning lady can come tomorrow.
  • Internetted while DH finished cleaning.

Wow. Reading this, no wonder I'm so tired. I had a pretty busy day.

I'll bite, too!

- Up briefly at 8 when DH clomped around and banged doors getting ready for work. Managed to get DD to sleep another hour!

- Up officially at 9. Spent 20 minutes lazing in bed with DD, playing "What does a cat say?" and "Where's the clock?" and "Ow, don't pull Mommy's hair!".

- Put DD in her crib for 15 minutes while I tidied up, opened blinds, put on a load of wash, went to the bathroom, turned on the radio.

- Changed DD's soggy diaper.

- Made us both breakfast. Preparing and eating usually takes an hour, either because I'm slow or DD is curious. I haven't figured that one out yet. Then picked up dishes and cleaned kitchen a bit.

- Showered while DD explored her Exersaucer.

- Got DD dressed.

- Played on floor with DD. Called a friend who has a newborn. Got off the phone 10 minutes later when DD started fussing. I swear she knows when I'm on the phone!

- Lay down with DD for her nap. Although she fell asleep quickly, she sneezed and woke herself up and we had to start over.

- Spent her 40-minute nap on MDC, checking emails, cleaning toys up, putting on makeup, trying to manage my ridiculous hair.

- DD up, and I prepare snacks and her sippy cup, then get us dressed for our walk. Brief phone call with sister.

- Walk through park, then up to Starbucks.

- Order cheapest coffee and eat my home-brought bagel. Feed DD cheese and plum bits. Talk to DH and a friend for awhile on phone. Realize the place is pretty empty and quiet and the few people there probably heard me say "ovulation", "pee on stick" and "full fertility checkup" (re my sister, not me!). Talk with DD and watch her smile at everyone. Get happy butterflies.

- Home, with a stop at pharmacy to see if baby cereal is on sale (it wasn't).

- Brief play on floor with DD.

- Spend 20 minutes putting DD down for micro nap #2.

- Check emails again.

- DD up. I put her on the kitchen floor and start preparing supper. Run interference as she tries to pull out alarm connections on sliding door. Ask DD to point out animals in her picture book. Wait outside for Dada to come home, witness huge rain storm. Back inside.

- DH comes home and takes DD while I prepare her supper, then finish up ours.

- Eat, clean up, put out garbage, head to grocery store, put groceries away, cook some lentils on for DD's snacks, get DD's bath ready, bathe her, put bath away, get teething tablets ready, read DD story, BF, kiss goodnight.

- As DH put DD to bed, I get some cookies, a glass of water, and crash on couch with computer. About to put it away and go to bed myself!

Up about 7. Made dh's breakfast while he played w baby. After dh left, laid back down and read books w ds.

Packed him into the stroller and walked down to the Y to observe the infant swim class and have a facility tour.

On the way home picked up lunch and dinner. He fell asleep in the stroller. I ate my lunch while he slept.

Spent the afternoon lying either on the couch or bed while ds crawled all over me. We're having a heat wave and i couldnt muster the energy for anything more.

Bathtime, read books, bedtime.

Eat dinner and dh just walked in the door.

These are fun to read. And a good exercise for those days where I wonder where my time has gone.

DS wakes up around 6:15, babbles and fidgets until about 6:45 when DH goes in to get him, change him.

DH brings DS to me, nurse in bed. DH downstairs eating breakfast/tending the dog/making coffee.

DH takes DS so I can shower. I do, then start a load of diapers. Make breakfast for myself and DS (chicken sausage, eggs, avocado, toast ) while DH reads to DS.

DH leaves for work, we eat breakfast, play for a bit.

I take DS up to change his diaper and he acts uncharacteristically tired. It's early but I put him down anyway. Success! He falls asleep.

I clean up breakfast, finish my coffee, putz around while DS naps for almost an hour - feels like an eternity after his recent spate of micro-naps.

DS wakes, I get him dressed and we go to baby and me class at the JCC. Fun!

Come home, nurse, make lunch. Contemplate when to put DS down since his first nap was so early.

Put DS down, and he falls asleep! For an hour! It's a banner day. I clean up lunch, have a cup of tea.

DS gets up. Nurse, change, dress. To a friends for a playdate.

Home around 5:30. DH is teaching tonight so he won't be home until late. Supper for DS and I, then playing/reading.

Bath, nurse, bed. Wait for DH.

Today... Who knows!
I'll do yesterday, since today's hardly started.

Before 8:30-- got them all up (not so easy since they had a late night the night before), dressed, and got breakfast on the table, and got DD1 out the door (she's in school)

8:30- about 10:00-- moped around a bit chatting with the kids, and lolling, because AF is here and I'm cranky and unmotivated, made my bed, threw in a load of laundry

10:00-- left the house to take the kiddos to see my dad; he's in cancer treatment right now and he gets lonely, so we go for short visits on Tuesday, which seems to be his best day, energy-wise

11:00-- visit done, stopped at the dairy

11:30-- home again, plugged the kids in to watch PBS for awhile, put the milk away, set yogurt to ferment, and washed my hair

12:30-- made some lunch, and we ate it, and played Cariboo with the kiddos awhile, put my laundry in the dryer, stripped DD1's bed to wash the linens and covers, threw them in the wash

2:00-- naptime-- did the whole naptime routine and then crashed on my bed for 15 minutes (AF is kicking my butt this time around)

2:30-- went outside to pick strawberries and tomatoes, and to do a few other gardening things

3:30-- DH got home; chatted with him a bit, and then left to go to the market before work (I worked eight hours a week-- last night I worked four hours)

So my day ended early. The kiddos were in bed when I got home at 8:15, but not asleep. DS was raging because his bouncy ball was lost, and DD1 was reading with a flashlight; DD2 was sleeping through the whole thing. I calmed DS down and made him realize the ball was gone, worked through his grief with him, and then got him settled. Barked at DD1 to put the flashlight away before I confiscated it, because at that point she was so miserably overtired she was bursting into tears sort of spontaneously. And then I went and read my book for awhile.

I did no dishes all day-- bless DH, because he did the whole day's dishes while I was at work. Nor did I houseclean. I did stop for gas for the car, and do some food shopping, but that's it. Today AF has stopped making me feel like I want to smack somebody, so maybe it'll be a more productive day.

Yesterday was very different because my father in law came to our house at about 6:45, from a red eye flight from California. So, the kids came bounding up the stairs while dh and I were still in bed to say "he's here!"

-Got dressed, dealt with chaos of greeting dh's dad, getting kids breakfast, and taking ds to first grade.
-Home, drink my first cup of coffee. Chat with father-in-law, and then make stew in the crock pot with my four year old.
-Laundry and some chores.
-Off to dance class with my dd and father in law. He got to sit in her class! Very cute.
Home for lunch.
-Grandpa leaves to rest at his hotel. My dd and I do a craft, clean, and make muffins.
-DS home from school, and we all have a snack.
-DH takes DD and DS with him to pick up Granpa. I use to the time to excercise.
-Everyone home, and we have a nice big dinner together.
-Look at picture albums together, and then everyone off to bed!

I love these too, I never participate because I generally read them in the morning before I've done anything. They help me realize that I have actually done stuff even if I feel like I got nothing accomplished.

Woke up around 5:30, changed the baby and sent the kids out to the living room. Nursed the baby back to sleep. Folded the laundry from the dryer, turned over the laundry, started another load.

Supervised breakfast making and breakfast eating. Picked out clothes for the kids, dressed my toddler. Washed breakfast dishes. Nursed the baby acouple of times, though surprisingly he stayed asleep in bed. Asked my oldest to lay with the baby while I got in the shower.

Had the kids pick up the house while I cleaned the bathrooms and then I vacuumed.

Went to Walgreens to pick up pictures (and waited at the counter forever because apparently they only have 1 employee) then grocery shopping.

Home for lunch, then we had a friend over for a few hours.

Now it's 3pm and I am nursing my two youngest and will be starting dinner as soon as my toddler is done and I can stand up.

OK, here goes:

6:00 Nursed DS2 in bed, hoping he'd go back to sleep
6:15 Both DS's (3 yo and 14 mos)were up for the day. Took DS2 to the potty and out to the living room. DH kindly suggested I go back to bed for a while, since DS2 woke up a lot the night before.
7:15 Up for the day. Showered with DS2 while DS1 listened to an audiobook. Had breakfast, pottied DS2 (DS1 takes care of his own pottying needs, so it doesn't involve much work on my part), Coffee
8:00 Made the beds, tidied up breakfast
8:30 Played legos with the boys for a bit, pottied DS2 again
9:00 Got both boys dressed
9:30 20 minute walk to the playground, pushing stroller

12:15 DS1 had rest time in his room ("reading" books to himself), while I had rest time on the couch (read for half an hour)
12:45 Vacuumed the living room while DS1 played with legos, surfed the net for a little while
1:15 "Played" with some attribute blocks with DS1. Spent some time teaching him about triangles and squares. (He's not in preschool, so I try to do some preschool-type activities when we can), Read another book out loud
1:45 Had a cup of coffee while chatting with DS1
2:00 DS2 up from his nap, Pottied him
2:20 Walked to bus stop to take DS1 to his gymnastics class
2:50 Dropped off DS1 at gymnastics class, walked to Trader Joes with DS2
4:10 Took bus back home
4:40 Pottied DS2, Snack for the boys, played a couple of rounds of Candy Land, nursed DS2 (while playing candy land)
5:40 Heated up leftovers, since DH was working very late today
6:00 Eating dinner with the boys
6:30 Pottied DS2, bathtime
7:00 Got both boys ready for bed, started bedtime routines, nursed Ds2
7:30 Both boys asleep, relaxed on couch
8:00 DH came home from work. He cleaned up dinner and comforted DS2 when he woke up a few minutes ago. I've basically been relaxing since 7:30, after a tough day.

Boy, I feel like I did get a lot accomplished today! Not every day is like this one.

Candy: HOW do you get your kids to go to bed that early! My DD sometimes wakes up early but won't go down before 7! And she's a machine all day!

This was my day:
12pm WOKE UP. Yes, that's right! I had a dinner for a friend who's getting married, and I got to sleep in which was amazing and to be honest? I could have stayed in bed all day.

Baked cupcakes with DD
Took a quick shower
Started making our autumn sensory box (mini gourds, fairies, acorns and that's it so far, hoping to have it done this week)
Started making bread for harvest party play date tomorrow
Ordered Indian food for dinner [YUM]
Read and hung out with kids until it came
Ate
Bath & massages for kids with this yummy oil, and BED!

Since today isn't done, yesterday:

6:00 am - woke up, hopped in shower while everyone slept
6:15 am - changed and nursed Ozzy (the newborn), he dozed back off, put him in the crib to finish sleeping
6:30 am - woke up the husband and Emma the toddler (they co-sleep in one room, Ozzy and I co-sleep in another room). got a cup of milk for Em, made coffee / bagel / thermos of tea / lunch for husband
6:50 am - husband left for work. put Em in the high chair with breakfast, Ozzy woke up so I nursed him again and checked facebook (hehe) and ate a banana
7:15ish - Em finished breakfast, I laid down Ozzy in the bassinet while cleaning her up, changing her diaper, getting her dressed for the day. ran a sink of hot soapy water and threw all the dishes in it. put diapers in the washing machine. did kind of disorganized half-ass picking up and cleaning around the house
8:00 - MIL came by to see the kids. talked to her for a bit, put away a load of laundry. did more cleaning while MIL played with Em. put diapers in the dryer
9:00 - put Em down for a nap while MIL held Ozzy.
9:30 - nursed the baby again, talked more with MIL, then she left
10:00 - Em woke up from nap, gave her a snack, got the babies together and loaded in the car, went off to the park
10:30 - got to the park playground to meet up with mom's group, let Em run around with the other kids
12:00 - headed back to the house. talked to my mom on the phone [she had off work and was bringing her mom up to Richmond - 1 hr drive - to visit the babies]
12:15 - got the kids back in the house, made lunch for Em, nursed the baby, mom and grandma came by. cleaned the house and the van while they played with the babies, finished diaper laundry, made some phone calls I needed to make and sorted through the mail/bills
2:30 - they left, made snack for Em, got Ozzy down for a nap, played with Em for a while and read books
4:00 - started dinner
4:15 - husband got home from work, he showered then played with Em while I finished dinner
5:00 - ate dinner
5:45 - husband gave Em bath in tub, I gave Ozzy bath by kitchen sink
6:15 - everyone just kind of hung out for a while playing with toys and talking about today
6:45 - husband held Ozzy while I got Em down to bed
7:15 - spent some time with the baby, did the dishes from dinner
9:00 - laid down with Ozzy, nursed and cuddled him to sleep, then went to sleep myself

It was actually a pretty successful day. Not getting near as much done today so far, *sigh*
post #18 of 20
lets see
  • 8:30 woke up / breakfast
  • DH had floor time with baby while i drank coffe before he went to work
  • another 3 year old came over for the day (i'm babysitting which today gives me 2 three year olds and the baby in the house)
  • boys played i checked facebook
  • did the dishes (3 days worth! in my defense we didn't have any water)
  • heated up water and filled the wash tub. I washed my hair took bath - gave baby a bath - then the boys took one.
  • baby naped
  • Lunch
  • Did letter H craft project w/ boys
  • got diapers off line and hung up inside to finish drying
  • Watched sonlights 'journey to india' online w/boys. Looked up india in childrens atlas
  • boys explored the india box i made up last night

Thats so far (it's 2pm right now)
And of course on the in-between was a lot of diaper changing, helping the boys go potty, tidying, hugs & kisses, jumping on the bed, and crazy 3 year old shenanigans.

I wasn't going to post here yet, because its not a normal day since we're on "vacation" in Portugal visiting the in-laws. But, the reason why we're still here while DH is in the States is because I'm now a SAHM and can stay for longer visits so the kids have more grandparent time. So I guess this is a "normal" day...

1am - return from going to a movie in the city (2nd one this year!) as we had grandma to babysit. Pump the fullest feeling boob and go to sleep

3:00am - DS (2 mos) wakes and come out of the crib to nurse. He nursed on and off in bed until

7:30am - I hear DD (3 yrs) screaming in the other room. She got a pinched finger last night, and I was afraid she bumped it. Turns out she was trying to yank a coat off the coat rack, and pulled it on top of her. No injury, just scared. Put DS back on the boob and go back to sleep. I'm definitely sick with a cold now, and want as much sleep as possible

9:30ish - DS wakes up and we make faces and nurse for a while. Meander out to the kitchen where grandma makes a grab for the baby, and I find breakfast. A box of cereal, and milk on the counter that FIL's employee just brought back from milking the cows. Sweet.

10am - work on getting stuff I don't need into DH's suitcase so he can take as much luggage back with him as possible. I'm not looking forward to doing customs and passport control with a toddler and a baby!

11am - Nurse baby, and watch VH1 music videos and other tv that I never watch in the US. Referee FIL and DD who are both acting like 3 year olds.

11:30pm - eat lunch/nurse baby/get food into DD who doesn't want to eat because she's been out back picking figs and grapes, and isn't hungry anymore. Clean up from lunch

12:30 - clean up DD's play area which hasn't been tidied in a week and looks like a train wreck. Visit with DH for a few minutes before the hordes of family members come to say goodbye to him before he leaves for the States

1:30 - attempt a nap, which is getting difficult as I can hardly breathe due to my progressing cold. DS joins me at some point because, you guessed it, he's hungry again!

3pm - leave with DH and DD for the airport. Drop DH off after confirming his flight is on time, and then head over to McDonald's. This is the only McDonalds I will eat at, since all the food is sourced from less than 20 miles away and is SO GOOD!

4pm - set out to return home, but can't find the entrance to the highway. instead we stumble across a park with toddler sized play equipment, which is awesome since I talked up the play equipment at McDonald's and it turned out to be a disappointment. Play on the swings and climby things until it starts raining. Continue on home. Realize that there's some stuff I want at the grocery store, so we make that an adventure and go buy yogurt, bananas, and find mommy's passion fruit soda that isn't stocked in the village we're staying in

6pm - return home, and a long and un-ending seeming blur of eating, nursing, bed time refereeing, nursing, bathing, nursing, rocking....... until

12pm - DS finally went down, and now I have an hour to shower and do creature comfort things and wait online until DH arrives home and can talk on the phone at around 1am.

I didn't feel like I did much today, but I guess I did!
