Low blood pressure in first trimester

I BFPed yesterday, got bloods taken an hour after that, felt woozy but did not faint, attributed it to needle-phobia... and have been feeling slightly dizzy and tired ever since. With my last pregnancy I had super-low BP during my first tri - at one point I walked 25 minutes to an appointment and arrived with a BP of 80 over 40. The midwife didn't think it was physiologically possible for me to be conscious.

So I'm assuming this is the same thing again. Anything I can do about it? Vastly preferable to nausea (although I got that too last time, later on), but still kind of a pain. I have all these things I want to get done before the morning sickness hits, but spent a lot of today lying down.

I had that with my last pregnancy too. The only thing I could find to help was drinking TONS AND TONS of water. HTH ...

Hmm... mine was 95/55 yesterday and I seem to be quite conscious. All through pregnancy it never went over 105/65 while it was being checked.
Drink lots of water, relax, try to stay out of the heat (it dilates the blood vessels and can make BP fall), and make sure you get at least some salt.

Drink lots of fluids. Eat some salty stuff. Wait it out.

My blood pressure is low to begin with, but the first trimester of pregnancy is a time where I really *feel* it and it wears me out and makes me dizzy sometimes. Luckily for me, how I feel improves as pregnancy progresses even though my blood pressure remains very low.

In the past week, I have had one BP of 98/66 and another of 95/66. I was quite conscious and not dizzy, but two times during my first pregnancy, while just standing there, my blood pressure dropped and everything went black, although I was able to sit down before completely fainting.

I also suffer from low blood pressure in everyday life (when not pregnant). It has worsened since becoming pregnant. Some things that I do that were recommended to me by my midwife and other health care practitioners:
  1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
  2. Control blood sugar by not eating a ton of sugar or refined carbs, eating frequently, and prioritizing fresh fruits and vegetables and protein.
  3. Exercising moderately (walking or yoga) for 30 mins a day.
  4. Practicing breathing exercises throughout the day.
  5. Getting enough rest and not pushing myself too hard.
  6. Making sure that my vitamin and mineral intake is sufficient (I drink raspberry leaf and nettle infusion daily, floradix liquid supplements are also a good bet for iron and calcium magnesium).
  7. Move from lying down to sitting and sitting to standing slowly while remembering to breath deeply.
  8. Making sure to eat breakfast.
  9. Not allowing myself to get overheated.
  10. Incorporating natural, unprocessed sea salt into my cooking.

Low blood pressure puts stress on the rest of the bodies functions. Maintaining a good equilibrium (blood sugar, circulation, rest, and hydration) has made a big impact on the severity and frequency of my experienced symptoms.

Good Luck!

My blood pressure is usually low or borderline low. Apparently pregnancy adds to that. As long as it's normal for you, it's fine. Low BP is always preferable to high! The other posters had great suggestions on how to combat it.

I always have lower BP, and during pregnancy it gets quite low. I was having dizzy spells making it hard to care for my kiddos and my mw suggested drinking lots of water to make sure I was always very well hydrated. For me, it was like a miracle -- I had no more dizziness, ever (except when I forgot to drink water!)
