dip ideas

DD is a dip addict and I'm ok with that. She wants to dip everything, from fruits and veggies to sandwiches . I've just gotten stuck on what to give her for dip. Peanut butter is fine and I make a homemade ranch, but beyond that I'm stuck. We tried hummus, but she hated that. what do your kids dip stuff in?

My 4 year old is a dip addict too. His current favorite is applesauce. I know, it's weird, but he loves to dip fruit and veggies in there.

Other than he pretty much sticks to peanut butter for apples and ketchup for any meat.

We use marinara sauce at times and also cream cheese or cheesy type dip.

green goddess dressing makes a nice dip

Dips! I love dips too, so does our whole family!

Ideas: baba ganoush (eggplant spread), hummus, marinara, ketchup, homemade spin and artichoke dip, cheese anything, sour cream plain or mixed with dill and lemon, taziki, olive oil with garlic, s/p and parm cheese, bruschetta, plain or flavored yogurt, salsa, guacamole...

oh I forgot I love tzatziki, basically a yogurt, garlic, cucumber and mint dip.

can of white beans, 2 or 3 sundried tomatos packed in oil, 1 clove garlic chopped up and then olive oil blended til it makes a dip. It's like hummus but it's pink and a little sweet from the sundried tomatos. If you're wanting to ligten it up you can do half oil, half water. I just do it to taste and texture.

homemade mayo is awesome for a dip too. not exactly the lightest dip though...

I mix whatever I have on hand with some homemade yogurt. Sometimes a little ranch dressing, sometimes ketchup, sometimes it's honey. My boys don't eat a whole lot of dairy, so I take any chance I can get to give them a little more. It's generally about 1/4 cup of yogurt to 1 tablespoon of the other (except for honey, that's a teaspoon).

We pretty much do hummus, guacamole, or nutbutter/coconut oil/honey.

DD likes honey mustard dip (honey, mustard, a tiny bit of water to thin it and stir) for chicken and veggies. I do an Asian dip of water, tamari, sesame oil and gomasio for her for veggie sushi and other stuff. Last night we had roasted acorn squash and she got extra maple syrup and melted butter for hers. Baba ghanoush is a fave here too.

Dd was dairy free for a while so she loves italian dressing to dip everything in! So simple and good.

Great thread! Speaking of yogurt, I add it to my chicken salad so i don't use so much mayo and it tastes yummy! Not a dip, but I liked how so many of you use yogurt as an alternative to dressing dip.

I make 2 QUARTS of this at a time. Expensive when cukes aren't growing in my yard, but seriously my kids could live on this. And spinach dip. Sometimes I think they are bit fussy but them I'll mention or someone will see them eating veggie dips and flip and then I realize I'm fortunate LOL.

DD likes hummus minus the tahini, and actually since I started making it that way for her I prefer it too. Also I make a curried red lentil dip and a sundried tomato dip that starts with a homemade mayo.

Pan fried onion dip, just fried onions in butter/oil, cream cheese and sour cream. MUCH better than the powdered packet in sour cream you grew up with.

I like a white bean and fresh basil dip, mostly like hummus except no tahini and white beans/basil and/or red pepper (roasted) instead of chickpeas.

for fruit my kids like strained/greek yogurt and honey and cinnamon for dipping. Or fondue

Taco seasoning, sour cream and cheese cream all mixed together.
Softened cream cheese and fluff mixed for fruit dipping. (super healthy, I know )
Nutella
Cheese fondu
sour cream and onion soup mix

I am an eyeball and taste cook, I don't use a recipe for this

Use greek yogurt, or drained yogurt
fresh or dried mint works fine
fresh garlic minced
english cucumber, grated and the juice squeezed out.

Should have a high ratio of cukes to yogurt and strong mint and garlic flavor. It's sometimes made with fresh dill also.
