CDs to fall asleep to

I want to get a friend a few CDs for her daughter to fall asleep to since they only have one and mom is very very sick of it, but I have no idea what CDs are good. My DD never fell asleep to music so I have no idea what to even look for in a lullaby CD.

I don't do lullaby's, but my ds has fallen asleep to Ingrid Michealson many a time now! She's kind of an alternative musician, but you can kind of listen to her music on iTunes before buying anything - its low key but doesn't sound like lullaby's which I LOVE since I have an aversion to listening to baby music all the time.

Check out rockabye baby records. Lullabye versions of bands like Led Zeppelin, Beatles, U2, Radiohead, etc. Instrumental, done with lots of glockenspiel.

Also, World Music for Little Ears is nice... lots of different songs, all soothing...

I'm not opposed to lullaby CDs - whatever the kids take to, whatever helps them stop and listen and sleep. So, with that in mind, what we've had for bedtime CDs are:
Baby Einstein "Lullabies" CD (classic classical tunes done in their tinkly style...),
Bedtime With the Beatles (slow instrumental versions),
Elizabeth Mitchell & Lisa Loeb's CD with Big Rock Candy Mountain on it - it may be called that (cute little mostly original songs with soft singing).

i think the smashing pumpkins rockabye baby CD is the best one for sleeping. it's very smooth and melodic. i love it!
