Fun project: DIY knight's helmet!

DS has been obsessed with knights and horses forever. Mostly horses. But he likes to sword fight with his dad and when he saw jousting at the Renaissance Festival, it was OMG the COOLEST THING EVER.

He pretends to be a knight all the time and has been frustrated to not have a helmet. Usually he'll just mime closing the visor before jousting. (Very serious business--and he doesn't always win, even when jousting alone.) The other option is to use a basket or a bucket for a helm. A+ for creativity, but doesn't work very well.

He's going to flip to make a knight's helm of his own WITH A VISOR! Gonna pick up a sheet of poster board and get it going tonight! It might not be as pretty as a commercial one, but he will be thrilled to make it together.

Anyway, just thought I'd share the link to the fun project (at the top of the post if you missed it).

ps. With picture! It was really easy. I used two little holes and a scrap of yarn on each side to hinge the visor. One happy little knight at my house!! When (not if) it gets smashed I'll have him decorate the next one before we tape it together. Fun easy and quick project!
