Help!!!

I bought 10 pounds of chicken leg quarters for $5.70 the other day .

Stupid, lazy me froze it all together instead of separating it and freezing it separately. Now it is a brick of frozen chicken . How can I get it apart in meal-size quantities or do I need to defrost it? If I do, can I refreeze what I don't use or must I just cook it all and freeze the cooked/partially cooked chicken?

I would defrost it, cook it, then refreeze in meal-sized portions.

I was thinking that: pull some off the bones and shred/cube it and save the bones for broth, then keep some on the bones to be put back into the oven/onto the grill for a chicken dinner. Just need to buy some freezer bags.

you could try to go at it with a big knife. i've managed to separate pieces of frozen chicken like that when i didn't want to defrost...just be careful!
