Diarreah and throwing up help!!!!!

I am over due and will be birthing at a birthing center and coming home with the baby the same day if all goes well, the problem is my two kiddos have had diarreah and have been throwing up now for at least 10 days. It comes and goes, the've each only thrown up once or twice in the 10 days, and the diarreah will improve to even semi solid or solid poop, only to come back the next day watery. They are playing normally, no temp, eating and drinking okay. I have them both on probiotics and plenty of fluid, we wash and scrub religiously, and I have continued to disinfect everything I can get my hands on, but this is getting ridiculous. I've never known of any kind of virus to last this long. I've called the peds and they tell me that the most they would do is take a poop sample and send it in to see if it is bacterial and even then they would just let it run it's course. They said if it was viral they wouldn't do anything at all. I am beginning to wonder if I should take them anyways, and insist they do something. I am really starting to worry. My son had semi normal poop this morning and then diarreah again before nap time. My daughter was completely cleared up for two days, normal solid poop and then this morning woke up with diarreah all over the bed and her and when I opened up the diaper it was a pool of watery diarreah. There are three adults in the house and none of us have shown any symptoms of any of this. I took the kids to McD's to play on the indoor playground (it was soooo hot outside, I just needed a break). Well within a day or two of going there they came down with all of this. I will never go back to McD's again!!!!! Has anyone else had any experiences like this, when will it end, what else can I do to help them. I am at my wits end and with a new baby on the way I dread bringing him home to all of this!!!!

Well, my girls were sick right before our last child was born. I think if you've been exposed the baby will get your immunity and then be further fortified through nursing. My son didn't catch anything.

((Hugs)) It's exhausting caring for sick littles when you are so pregnant and worried about everything.

What probiotic are you giving? Do you think it may be rotavirus? Because Culturelle kicks rotavirus butt! I would get Culturelle, an OTC probiotic (available at Walgreens, Target, CVS, Walmart, etc) and double dose that and see how it goes.

I am thinking it could be rotavirus just from the research I've done, but I am not sure. Both kids are on Jordan Rubins probiotics called Primal Defense Kids. Since they have had this virus off and on now for over 10 days I am really hoping we are on the last leg of it. I just never thought anything could last this long!!!! I guess I am extra stressed too because I am past due. I will be breast feeding this baby like I did my other two so I was hoping that my immunity would help keep him from catching anything when he does decide to come. I also needed reassurance that 10 days with a virus is normal and not too long, I feel so bad for my kiddos and just wish I could do something for them to help more. They both seem happy enough and still wanting to play so I guess I should feel blessed that it's not worse. Thanks for the support and suggestions.
