Hi Mamas,
can you give me some great links about being veg for health reasons?
we are only familiar with mcdougall.

Oh and how do you do it with bf'ing sensitivities....i.e. soy, wheat, corn....any tips?

I've been veggie and vegan for so long that I don't really have any links for you... but as far as the allergy thing goes, of course it will compound your current dietary inconveniences, but it's definitely doable. Corn is no biggie, wheat and soy means you will not be eating a lot of the processed veggie substitutes, but you are probably already used to not eating processed foods.

Black bean or chickpea burgers are a great alternative to soy burgers, quinoa is a really great source of protein (it's even complete, a rarity in plant foods) that is gluten free, and of course brown rice is great. Lentils are a great source of protein and iron.

Here's a handy article that covers the wheat sensitivity:

Here is a good link: http://www.pcrm.org/health/

Also, The China Study is a very good book on health reasons to be vegan.

As far as food sensitivities, it can and has been done! We are a vegan family- I am wheat intolerant and DH is soy intolerant... so we are a wheat and soy free vegan home (I eat separate soy products, and DH and the family eat wheat, but our meals together are wheat and soy free).
