Landlord already refused. He stated if any car that doesn't have the permit he will have towed. I'll just have to be okay with it. Besides, who needs a party right?

It's such a beautiful day here. Perfect autumn day.

So far I've:
Shopped at Target
Went to the movies (Owls of Ga'Hoole)
Went to Barnes & Noble/Starbucks

And now, I'm going to walk into town to get a bite to eat.
Then I have to clean and do laundry.

Phew!

deshanna: so you can never have company? that doesn't even make sense. can they just park down the street and walk over?

I have company, but I either pick them up or someone brings them. I'm going to see if I can do it at my friends. I wish I didn't live in such a bad area because there's plenty of parking across the way, but you may not have your tires, radio, and items of your car when you get back.

Though we did get accepted in for assisted housing! So now we can start planning where to move in the coming years

ETA: update!!

I decided, against my mom's wishes, to call my sister anyway. I told her the situation and she's going to see what's happening about the time I planned to have it. If she can't do that day, then we'll push it to another weekend, but she said it wouldn't be a burden at all and she's got a plenty big home to let us host a shower!

Hi all! I've been meaning to join in on this thread for awhile (um years?) and have managed to catch it at the beginning of the month!

So, I'm Kat, I've got 5 littles ranging from 9 years to almost 8 months. We live in Oregon and Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year. The year is totally backwards for me and I feel like Fall is definitely when I "wake up".

This year the mushroom festival over in Eugene is on the 31st so I'm really looking forward to heading over that way. And maybe finding a pumpkin festival where you can pick pumpkins in the field. We're in the high desert so our pumpkin festival involves trucking in pumpkins and spreading them about for the families to pick from

What else, what else....Just looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better. Indigo, I think you sent me a pair of fingerless mitts a few years ago in a swap. My son adores them and I rarely get to wear them.

Oh, these are great news, unschoolin'!! You know-- I know it's more popular in the south, but you can always have a potluck. Maybe even theme it. I love potlucks. It's not improper, I don't think.

That's hilarious. Welcome and mm! Maiasaura here, older (almost 51) mama to one 9yo ds. I'm only old chronologically, though We live in NC.

OH!!! oh!! I forgot the news; I got to meet bluets yesterday! Now we both know that we're real people and not just online
We sat outside a Starbucks and had really interesting conversation for about an hour before she had to take off to her conference.
That was cool.
I so wish we all could have a meet-up or something.

Hey, did everyone hear that Druids were granted official status in the UK? It's about time!

I'm going to find some socks (cold toes) and ds and I are going to read one of his new books. I love new books.

Maia-aye, Chicago-style is deep dish. But we are serious about ANY pizza!
We even have 4 mini-deep dish pans which DH bought just to make "test pizzas". And what great news about M
femme-the festival sound so perfect!!
unschoolin-you don't "deserve" a shower? That sounds harsh. Well I bet your sis will be quite happy to do it for you!
kat-welcome! Oregon.....never been, but I lived in Humboldt for a while, I always miss it. SO beautiful in the pacific northwest!!!

SO it was not the flu shot making DH sick, just the beginning of flu season. Gods only know why-he decided a while back, unbeknownst to me, to stop taking his daily vitamins, and like days after flu season begins, BAM. Now I am catching it. I really needed the weekend, or at least today, to clean since I've been doing everything solo since wednesday, and it's a mess. I was going to totally clean, do some sweeping with DS-whi has been begging to try my besom. Then I was going to decorate for Samhain. For some reason it's super-important to me to do this all in order-now I might not get to decorate until next weekend, so I am super bummed. And WAY mad at DH for not taking his vitamins, for no reason whatsoever, while I am pregnant!!
Ugh.

I had pizza tonight. I want more.

The kids and I are helping dh lose weight. He's very very overweight and about to be put on high blood pressure medication at only 28 years of age. This is unacceptable to me and I want him to be around for his children.

We set up a goal chart of a man (it's him) and each month he's to lose 10 pounds. We fill the area up in red when he reaches his goal. I bought him shakes and created a very healthy breakfast of a whole grain waffle, smeared with lowfat yogurt, topped with granola and berries. I call it a breakfast pizza

Have him look at the hcg diet! Srsly, this is amazing. I'm at 175.4 this morning!! I am so excited, finally I am losing weight.
I haven't been this low since prolly about 8 years ago!

Maia- that is amazing! Finding your soulmate after all that time was surely a gift!

I had picked out a glittery skull for my altar yesterday but my DD like the skeleton better so we got that. I need to get a skull though. I won't have time to make a sugar skull. In fact, I really haven't decorated this year, too much going on.

We are off to UU this morning. It has been raining and it makes me feel blah, hope church can wake me up. Have a lovely day all!

Mornin' all!

We have the wood stove burning today... it's cold and we finished the chimney cleaning yesterday. But the house is kind of smokey and I need to figure out where it's coming from while the weather is still kinda friendly.

unschoolin- OMG! I'm so glad you and your little are ok! How is your dd today? Hopefully the shock doesn't last. And yay for big sisters and baby showers! Around here (at least in my set of friends) every birth merits a party. I think often the first one is "called" a baby shower and then the next ones are called something else... they tend to have fewer silly games but more themes for some reason. I'm glad you'll be ale to celebrate, and glad you'll have a new apartment soon. That sounds crazy!

welcome rajahkat! Glad you've joined in the fun!

Seasonal decore- the stores here have halloween/thanksgiving/chistmas stuff side by side. It's disturbing. Some of the christmas stuff is already marked down!

Good Morning

Wombat-A fire sounds nice. Hope everything gets working properly. I took my kiddos to a store yesterday looking for a few fall/Halloween decorations, and yes to the side by side holiday nonsense! My dd veered off to look at some of it, and I jokingly snapped, "NO! We're not allowed to look at that stuff yet! Walk away."

Aeress-I feel you about being busy. There's a lot we haven't done yet that we usually have done by this time of year. Mostly decorating and fall garden stuff. We're busy with good stuff though.

From 4 yo DS:

Maia-Oh good. I'm glad you got to cam with him. I can't believe it's been a year already.

unschoolin-I think you deserve a Baby Shower. Glad it's working out.

NMM-Hey! You used to live in my neck of the woods. I love it here. The festival was nice. I'm avoiding gluten and sugar right now, so it was a little hard to be around all the yummy appley treats and good local food. The kids had fun and the weather was very fitting a fall celebration. I'm sorry your DH is sick and now you're getting it. One of my least favorite things I've experienced is being sick while pregnant. I hope it moves along quickly.

DoK-It read like you had a nice day yesterday. How was the movie? I want to take my kids to it, but I think it'll be too intense for them. They're 4 and 6.

Cari-I hope you had fun at your uber cool in-laws.

Mo3- What a bummer to not be invited and included at your parents. I think if I lived closer to mine it would be like that too.

Welcome rajahkat! and meandk610

My To Do list is way bigger than I'd like for a Sunday, but oh well. It will end with a nice visit with a friend and a ritual fire, so I'm sure that will be enjoyable.

Hugs everybody!

Right? We are both SO continually amazed. It's such a gift, and we're both so grateful

Yeah, me neither-- I got rid of a ton of the decorations, as I was hoping not to be here by this time! I do have enough stuff, I think, to make a little kitchen altar on the back of my stove (thanks, whatever camp that was ) I need to get on that today.

If that's not so annoying. We went to Kmart yesterday to see a friend of mine who works there, and saw that, too

Off to church! I've been thinking, recently...I am slowly admitting to myself that I'm not that much into it anymore but then I realized I have to keep going because I believe it's so valuable for ds. Sigh. I really do love the older kids that come out of that youth program. They are amazing human beings, and I so want to see my ds become like them when he's that age.

cari, love the orange!

and i'm laughing so hard you all think the party will be in az. heck, no.
magical medieval forest, of course!

hugs and vibes and HAPPY OCTOBER!!!

I forgot to mention, I got a job with the Goodwill. They want me to start in the first week of March so that I have time to bond with the baby. And they're going to work around my homeschooling schedule. I'll have to find a daycare as well that takes children but I know they'll work around that too.

I wasn't even trying to look for work. I went to buy dd's Victorian wooden dollhouse and got to talking to the manager. Next thing I know I have a job LOL.

Clay-dd is doing much better. I think she bounced back much quicker than I did. But we're good now. I'm going to call it a "baby sprinkle".

Morning Everyone!! Today has been designated as a Cooking/Cleaning/Decorating/Reorganize the house day for us.

We're getting up our decor, and finding where to put things and I am resisting the urge to make things - I want to make a huge spiderweb/weaving wall hanging project with some of the fallen branches we have and the extra hemp twine and leftover beads I have laying around.

I got our pressure cooker out for canning sauces, stocks and beans and we're slow cooking some ribs soon.

FALL is really here and the cool temps are making my little toes a bit chilly... off to find where I stored our wool socks.

mmmm and a fire sounds nice.... hmm would need to get the chimney cleaned then.
