Seasonal allergies in 4 year old, need help, support, tips etc.

Ds has suspected seasonal allergies. IT has become pretty bad this season and I am sure it is my pregnancy hormones but i am becoming very upset about it. I have tried OTC's and they are not working. I just bought a dehumidifier for the basement, I am ready to get our air ducts cleaned and maybe buy an air purifier. Most of our house is not carpeted, except for his room and the other room upstairs and the stairs. I am just feeling overwhelmed. I called his dr. office today, because I am tired of giving him otc meds. not sure what exactly is causing the allergy and i am waiting to hear back from the nurse now. So what do you all do to make your lo's feel better. I don't even want to take him to library time because of his cough and sneezing. I am just feeling like a horrible mother right now.

Seasonal allergies have hit my LOs pretty hard this year, after several years of not being so bad. I know how you feel--I can't stand seeing either of my kids sick or uncomfortable and I do not like giving medications.

We do lots of vitamin C, which is a natural antihistamine. When ill we use sodium ascorbate to bowel tolerance. For everyday supplementation we use a whole C like amla.

Quercetin is a bioflavanoid that is great for respitory issues. Most people need several times more than what the recommended dosage is and you have to play around with the dosage to find what is helpful for you. We use a liquid quercetin from Source Naturals which we take in the morning and again at night.

Elderberry is a great immune system booster as well as an immune system modulator. We use Nature's Answer Sambucus. It's great for warding off colds and the flu.

When noses get really stuffy and runny we also use Umcka--it helps to thin nasal secretions to make coughs more productive. It is also great for sore throats.

Another vote for vitamin C & quercetin, and also methyl B12 sublinguals (they work fastest, so I use them for acute stuff, vitamin C & quercetin for long term).

Seasonal allergies often mean the body's methylation cycle can use more support. B12 helps there, and also mthf folate & folinic acid (both available from Thorne brand, I get on iherb.com) - 200mcg of each per day (which means you need to open capsules and just use part of the capsule).
