Hi everyone,

I have a son who is 4 yrs old and diagnosed PDD-NOS. He is currently in a special ed preschool and doing well.
I want to try to go to a DAN doctor. I would like to hear people's experiences with DAN doctors. I live in Long Island, NY. Also, if you can share initial visit pricing, I would greatly appreciate it, as I was just bquoted $995 for initial visit (lab work not included) for Dr. Bock in Rhinebeck, NY.

Thank you!!!

Our Dan doctor was $380 for the first visit. 995 sounds really high.

I love Dr. Bock's book (Healing the New Childhood Epidemics), and I've found it helpful, but $995 is very high especially if lab work isn't included. What does that $995 include? Is that for two hours or one hour? I've paid about $350-$400 for the initial visit and then I do follow-ups on the phone. I LOVE our DAN doctor. He's been so kind and helpful. Plus, I get insurance coverage for things he orders so we've saved a bundle.

We work with a well-known, book writing DAN and he is $400/hour. Our initial appointment took more like 1.5 hours and he capped it at $400. I think $995 is one of the most expensive rates I've heard of unless it includes the second follow up/results appointment as well. You might be paying for his super-duper expertise status. I don't see anything wrong paying for that if it's something you can afford.

Most DAN docs schedule a 2-3 hr visit for your initial visit because there is a lot of information they are collecting from you. They will spend that time looking over and talking about the information you provided them about your child, as well as the treatment process and other issues in the future. Then you have the separate cost of the other testing from labs and any supplements that you may need to start on. Those can vary and some test you can pay up from and seek reimbursement from your insurance (if you are able to). That is something his office can help you out with too.

We used a DAN with my 2 eldest and have had great success with the treatment and improvement of their health which directly affected their development. Both are extremely high functioning and I know they would not have been this way had we not taken the steps at their young age to treat their health issues.

Thank you all for your input. I am also looking at the profile of Pierre Fontaine. Has anyone heard of him or has any experience with him? Thanks!

I have not consulted Dr. Bock or any other DAN practitioners, but a friend of mine did see Bock, and, FWIW, she said that he makes sure his appointments are kept brief.
