When to seek medical attention? Ovarian cyst?

My normally very regular period is late this time with no stress, illness, changes in my life to chalk it up to. I am so far 17 days late, judging by when I ovulated for this cycle. I feel very nauseated and exhausted and there's a little bit of pressure when I urinate like a uti without any pain. Non of my pregnancy symptoms at all. My gyn. thinks it may be a cyst, though nothing has been checked out, and has me taking evening primrose oil and waiting it out. I'm never good at trusting the advice of my health care provider without question though. I've been taking the pills for four days now with no change except that my nausea is getting worse. Has anybody had a similar experience? Maybe I'm overreacting, I have just NEVER had a late period except for during pregnancy and this feels incredibly different. If there is no abdominal pain, I guess its probably safe to wait? I feel like I've been waiting forever already! Any experiences or advice would ease my worry.
Thanks ladies!

Did she image and actually see the cyst (which type of cyst do you have?) or is she just guessing? You are certain you actually ovulated? I'm assuming pregnancy was ruled out, right?

Has your doctor done a pregnancy test?? If not, why not?

What made your doctor "think" it is an ovarian cyst? Has he actually seen you? You said he prescribed EPO without checking you?? ( "My gyn. thinks it may be a cyst, though nothing has been checked out..." )

When I an ovarian cyst, it was diagnosed after I had an ultrasound (my doc could actually feel it on exam, but wanted to be sure).

In late pregnancy, evening primrose oil is taken vaginally or orally to induce cervical ripening to hasten labor. The jury seems to be out as to its use in early pregnancy. It is listed as being contraindicated in pregnancy. As EPO is an herb, and not overseen by the FDA, its strengths vary from supplement to supplement.

There are numerous websites citing its benefits for ovarian cysts. But, as it takes awhile for ovarian cysts to form, realize that it would take awhile for it to recede, if the EPO really works.

Thank you for your replies, first of all. I appreciate it. I have not had an ultrasound yet, my gyno was guessing based on what I was describing. I told her I want one on Monday though and she's fitting me in. I know when I ovulate because I have blaringly obvious symptoms the day of. I count 14 days from that day and I see af at that point. Its pretty much clockwork. I really really doubt its pregnancy. Got a negative.
